Hi guys,
I am having a problem with my ef. the problem is that it runs well on gas but when i flick it over to petrol it shudders and fells like its not getting any petrol. i have recently change my sparks, leads, coil pack and had put in a new fuel pump about 9 months ago. it always backfires and pops off the hose of the manifold and the one that goes to the map sensor. Could the map sensor be faulty? if so would this affect only the petrol and not the gas? any help will be much appreciated. thanks guys. |

Could be clogged fuel injectors that is causing the starvation problem.

sounds like a blocked injector. also check all the wires are connected, sometimes they work loose

Id go with fouled injectors as well. Tends to happen if you dont use them enough when you have gas. Its very unlikely to be the map sensor.

i run it on petrol when i remember. probably once a week or 2 weeks

where you get your fuel being a duel fuel yyou should use premuim fuel because normal fuel goes off quicker

I tend only run petrol when I run out of LPG. bout once a month but I only keep about 1/4 tank in it. I use that 1/4 and refill with $20 petrol every 3 months and I thro in some injector cleaner in with it. Sometimes I dont run petrol for a couple months but I always do my 3 monthly get rid of the petrol run to work and refill.

whenever i use petrol i do always use the premium stuff like you said.

Sometimes you can fair ok not running it much, but not all petrol is made equal and sometimes it only takes a tank of crap and your injectors need a proper clean, the lpg thing just impounds the situation a bit.

try replacing the map sensor, I have a good one you can have.

today i changed the fuel filter and the sock on the end of the fuel pump. i also put some injector cleaner but it still feel like its holding back when i accelerate. it is running alot better then it was before i did those things but it still feels like its holding back.
P.S. maybe i will try changing that map sensor Krytox. let me know what i need to do to get that map sensor. thanks for that, its very generous of you. |

hi mate,
i had the same dramas with my ef a short while back.. found my fuel filter was full of black sh!t, from having the fuel pump running all the time, recirculating the fuel. filled up with a tank of premium and bombed the crap out of it with nulon fuel system cleaner.. i think it was 2 x '2 tank' bottles to a tank of premo fuel.. tis all good now, took a while tho.. |

If it has improved then maybe more of the same. More injector cleaner as V8R said.
