any EF/EL Gli/Futura/Fairmont/Ghia/XR/ex-chaser without a worry - not too sure on the higher specs (eg DF/DL ones) i'm sure they'd take a bit of extra wiring though...

Oh by the way, seeing that my car is an 8cyl, the new cluster doesnt have to be from an 8 does it? Ie. it can be from either a 6 or 8 cyl cant it?

Cant see why not as its running from the same reading points. Tacho might be different might need extra wires for the more cylinders. Everything SHOULD be the same (obviously you need extra wiring for a mid or high series cluster)

A six cylinder cluster will bolt straight in but your tacho will be wrong.

Your tacho is basically a freqency meter. At 3000rpm a six is 150hz and an 8 is 200Hz.

Actually an 8 cluster will work for a six, and a six will work for an eight !
Im running a EF LTD V8 Cluster in my I6 Fairmont, and there are no problems !

You might want to read this doco for changing instrument clusters.

If you have an EL XR8, then the only higher model clusters out there are the police pack, and the High Series Ones.

Police pack allows you to adjust the speedo, which is good for diff conversions and rims size changes.

The high Series requires a whole lot of wiring changes, which isnt very friendly.

Anyways, everything is detailed in the doco
