Check out the engine bay pic in my gallery.
I put the EL intake piping onto my EF a long time ago. Several times I have used interior cleaner tyoe stuff - Solar Warrior armour type stuff - to clean up the throttle body connecting rubber part - the bit with the Ford oval on it - but continually the rubber gets this white dustlike coating on it - you can see what I mean on my engine pic. Doesn't matter how often I clean it it keeps coming back. Is there anything I can use to get rid of this whitening once and for all or is it just something the rubber will do forever? |

I dont think there is much you can do about it, try using tyre foam it might last a bit longer

try baby oil. it works wonders

you're still refering to his intake pipe yes? 
seriously, it is just an aging the plastic goes through, unless you paint it black it will continue to do it.

I might just give it a paint with tyre black stuff - should do the trick

When I clean up my engine bay and all the rubber hoses and stuff like that, plastics...
I get a clean rag and spray a s**t of WD40 on it... I just coat everything in the engine bay with it, then leave it to evaporate... Generally comes out good, do it every now and then, and it comes out lookin better and better each time...

try silcone spray you dont even have to wipe it off

i would just paint it black using a good paint, the hea proof paint would work well, just make sure you use plastic primer first otherwise the paint will peel over time
|
