hey i was just wondering if it makes a different if your speakers, head untit, sub and amp are all different brands??
cuz ive heard ppl say that you get a better quality / connection or somethin like that if they are all the same brand...
i only ask this cuz i got 6" sony's for free, a boss amp for $100 off a mate and ive already bought i pioneer head unit and i was lookin a the JBL 6 by 9's.... would it be better to go pioneer-->boss--> to pioneer speakers or would that be the same as goin wit the JBL speakers.... or is this whole topic a load of crap???

cheers

its going to depend upon the quality of the amp/sub/speaker/deck more so that anything i'd say - i wouldn't go out buying just one product for the sake of having just that brand in your car - get what is best for the application.

Mate, it doesn't seem to make a difference in anyone's car i've been and my own. I'm the same as yourself, my stereo's all different brands.
Sony TV, Pioneer splits (front), JVC 6x9's (back), Kicker Sub and Amp, sounds good enough in the car, to me and anyone else thats been in it.

If you can get your hands on cheap audio gear, then my opinion is: Get it!

It will never make a difference, they all run standard. Focus more in the quality of what you're buying instead of matchiing up brands.

(Don't buy Sony!)

the boss and sony gear is going to have a more detrimental effect to SQ/SPL than mixing components ever will

The only two things you have to worry about when mixing components is head units and CD stackers. There is no standard for these and each manufacturer has their own method for communication between the H/U and stacker. Other than that it shouldn't matter.

It does not make a difference. infact i got sick of seeing cars with all one brand and claiming it was the only way to go when i built my system i went for what i considered the best of everything availabel no matter what brand and ended out comming out with

Morel Tweeters runn with
Focal midrange and midbass
Pioneer headunit and DSP processor
Eattrhquake 32 Band EQ
Phoenix gokld amps x 3
Earthquake dighital sub amp
Optima Battery
Aeropro Capacitor

And with all that hotchpotch gear i managed to win National Sound Quality champion, so it can't be too bad.

What dictates your soud quality if location of speakers + preperation (sound deadening etc...) + quality of each component added together.

In your case with the system you have proposed your biggest weakness by a long way is the BOSS amp. The S?N ratio of these amps and their damping factor is quite low and this will mean average sound quality no matter how good your headunit and speakers are.

It will be much more powerfull than the headunit amp, although may not be better quality.

There are plenty that aer good to many to list but i am impressed with an earthquake amp at the moment that deliver 4 x 130rms or 2 x 400rms for $500 brand new.

Tha means you can run front stage with 130rms per side and a sub with 400rms. Thats pretty cool, they also make a 5 channel one thats 4 x 130rms and 1 x 400rms meaing 130rms to fronts and rears and 400rms to sub or 400rms x 3 to fronts and sub, running rears off the headunit (which is the better way to go).
