Anyone affectively cleaned the inside of their filthy E series fuel rail, any suggestions on effectively cleaning the inside would be sweet, mines full of rust looking crap.

Cheers gents

You could try beadblasting it, or an ultrasonic cleaner, thats about it apart from replacing it. Shows the quality fuel we're buying, eh?

Thanks mate, I just filled it with petrol, blocked off all the outlets agave it a shake. Alot of what looks like pices of rust came out, a bit weird because I guess the rail is stainless steel.

Long gone now, shoulda taken pics. But yeah, flakes of rusted metal definitely came out of it, same with the injector slots in the rail being quite rusted. The car has been sitting for a year due to licence issues, lol, if this may have anything to do with it. I guess the weird thing is the fuel system should have nothing that can rust in it, though not sure.

Its the crap fuel we get. Had the same thing happen to me, but my car wasn't not going for a year though. It just got more and more sluggish till it was getting hard to start, started looking around and found my injectors jammed with sh!t, the rail was rusted, so was the inside of my fuel filter which had only done 1,800ks.
It makes you wonder what was in the fuel to do that. I had put in a new tank & pump & hoses & had cleaned the injectors only 4 yrs before, so it didn't have like 20yrs of crap in there.
We get charged up the @rse for fuel & this is what we get.....not happy Jan.

I think there just mild steel thats electroplated so i guess over over time it would break down especially in that enviroment

The fuel rails are steel with Zinc-dichromate plating. A gold colour.

Looking at this im just thinking what it does to the fuel regulator as in blocking it then putting extra load on the fuel pump. This could end up in a premature failing of the fuel pump and wrong fuel mixtures due to a blocked fuel regulator....
