This is easy enough, my experience is from AU but will hold relatively true for EF- EL

You DO need to install an oil cooler for the auto, these are cheap and very effective, with boost the auto trans will exceed recommend operating temperatures very easy on city driving.

Obviously some fresh oil/filter for the auto is good too.

You can fit the system and cruise very steady to your tuners shop, once there you can fit the injectors and walk away from it and let him tune it for you. No need for trailer, don't exceed 2500rpm and you will be getting to the tuner problem free.

Cool cool, it is only a 10min drive to BPT anyway. With economy on and a light food hopefully all will be ok.

The oil cooler, have never seen one. will this need to be done when fitting the charger, or can BPT do this for me aswell? I plan to get BPT to install better injectors, do the tune. and maybe 1 or 2 more things thatll help with the extra power that im going to have.

you could drive it un tuned..
as if you drive easy its not really making boost.
ive been driving mine around for 2 weeks un tuned and still giving it a bit of throttle just not flogging it..

hi guys..
well i thought ill update you with how my car is going.
the supercharger itself is performing great and seems to be trouble free.

although im still having some issues.
the newest issue im having is the belt seems to have stretched or my belt tensioner is not the best?
at the first tune with only a few hundred kms on the s/c it was making 10 psi easy but was having issues with the afr and timing but it made 175rwkw..
i had it on the dyno today after about 1000km of driving with a re tune and now with the belt slip its only making 6 psi now.(rubber dust all over the s/c bracket)
but the good news with a better afr and timing its now making the 175kw @ 5000rpm with 6 psi boost and still some wheel spin on the dyno.
so im thinking on either trying a shorter belt or larger idler pulleys to take up some of the belt tension.
otherwise everytime i nail first gear i still cant help but smile.. :D

Troyman

Two things here

There are 3 holes in the bracket for the top idler, if your idler isn't yet in the lowest hole of the 3 then maybe you can move it down a hole.

Never stop checking for air leaks, run a screw driver over the clamps again and make sure manifold gasket is still ok, notorious for blowing out when they get some age on em

thanks tim
yep i have the top idler in the lowest hole to clear the vct oil line.
obviously the are a few mm difference here and there as im using the ef kit on the au block.
ill go over the hoses and pipe clamps to double check for leaks.

tim.
do you think there would be any issues with using larger idler pulleys??

well my car is up and running again and tuned with a ems stinger ecu.
it made a best of 194rwkw at about 8 psi.. :D

we did manage to rev it out to 6600rpm without the rev limiter on.
and at 6600rpm it made 9.5psi..but the limiter has now been set to 5500..
so all in its making good power now..
next is to upgrade to a 3" exhaust to suck every bit of power out of it....

Fordfan made same power prior to fitting 3" so you will make some more yet.

What FF found was with 3" the power shifted up the rpm range a bit, lost the really strong low end snap he had for a stronger top end pull @ 213rwkw.

A 2.75" pipe would be close to perfect, or somthing like on a stock BF 6cyl

Great news Troyman! Has been a bit of a painful process....always seems to be with performance mods. That's excellent power. Your power to weight ratio will mean you'll be getting some brisk acceleration out of it. Keep us updated.

umm yes!!
on the first on road test 1st gear thrust lead to the dash mat starting to slide off the dash 2nd was much the same and 3rd gear around a slight bend as the rpm was around 4500 lead to lsd wheel spin and a bit of sphinkter tightening...lol

and last night i took the car for a bit of a run but it was sprinkling rain and there is no way you can use boost, even off boost the ems is tuned well and the car has good torque off boost as it just spins. and as soon as boost starts its just dangerous. :D

Great fun! Yours is making similar power to what mine did, but in a lighter package. Not sure on 1/4 time, but mine was covering 0-100 in low 6 seconds (best of 6.14 or something - Gtech).

Yours will easily do this, and probably more like 0-100 in high 5's. If it does its certainly a fast car. Enoy!

Joe

Hi Guys,

Sounds like your enjoying your Raptor experience. 190+ RWKWs is where it starts to get fun.

One thing I don't understand is why your tuners have found it necessary to change to an after market ECU to get 195 or so RWKWs :?: . With Fordfan's car we have been able to get to 213RWKWs on the factory computer. We will be going to an aftermaket ECU for future power gains just for the live tuning ability. At this power and torque level it is very easy to destroy a perfectly good engine. I will keep you posted once we put the DEV5 head and cam package in. We are also descussing rebuilding the old bottom end coz I feel pushing a 200,000k motor any further could end up with a big BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM and a dented bonnet.

Also in regards to Tims earlier comment that Turbo drivers could only dream of having the response and torque provide by this supercharger kit. Being a Turbo Driver I don't think you can compare the two. If you want a good firm push down the road, then yes superchargers are the way to go. But if you want a true ball tearing experience turbo's win hands down. I have an XR6 Turbo with only 330 RWKWs at the moment. But with some fine tuning and some in house custom work I have been able to develop 1400 Nm of torque for only 6 grand. Mind you there are a lot more dangers that come with a turbo system, such as over boosting. Unlike a supercharger that is relatively easy to control with a rev limiter and pulley size.

My comment was about the response that BLC would have because of the very high compression plus boost, not a generalization as such. Most cars don't start out with high comp which is something that makes for very punchy throttle response
