Would look even cooler with the correct XK taillights instead of the XL ones, but still a great base for mods or a resto.Had an XM panel van over 20 years ago that copped a 289 & 4spd plus many other mods, all the parts I used in it were all form XM right up to XB standard Ford parts.Good luck with your project! 8-)

Cheers,
Kevin.

You should take her up to Tanunda for this...http://www.justauto.com.au/justcars/share/events/f71c8d3c-b4a7-48fd-b1a4-44f6ad35c5cc. 14th - 15th Jan 2011

Love this wagon mate! I reckon keep the look it's got, but a V8 would be nice eh! Makes me wish I had completed my XL sedan project I started many years ago, ah well

Been looking at paint ideas, and I like the idea of using a 'flat' or 'matte' clear over a metallic colour, something like this:

I even quite like the green colour, but would like to see a blue variant in the same tones.

Call it a 'Matte Rod' style

She's up and running :D started on first kick and everything works, sorting out rego and back tyre tomorrow, then it's cruise time 8-)

Image

Also re-pinned the drivers door lock to match the ignition key, so she all now locks up good. Gotta chase a new barrel for the passenger side lock as there is a broken part on the current one, so you can't use the key on the passenger side lock.

Hopefully have some location photos up in the next couple of days.

Jealous as mate!

I'd be hesitant to change it from what it is now, looks awesome in matt :)

Got the rego sorted out, and some plates until the custom ones are ready. So thought it fitting to test her out with a Lobethal bakery run, and a photo shoot.

Car ran like a dream, put a new fuel filter in just in case, and have an oil filter and oil ready to change, have to look at the manual to see about servicing the trans.

Definitely needs disc brakes on the front around the hills, will look into what is needed for the conversion.

Now some pics

If you wish to keep the front drums on for the mean time, take the drums off, and groove the brake shoes, angle ways so as to move the brake dust to the inner backing plates. This is an old trick from way back....I used to do it on motorbikes with f & r drums.

Playing with Adobe Illustrator to try and work out the look and feel I'm after.
