It would be finished by this weekend dude, but I've been consumed by work and the purchasing of a new car to the stable.
Regretfully traded the AU Fairlane Sportsman in for a BF2 XT Wagon on BBQ gas. Sign of the times I guess.

all this money on internals.... that will be goin into a rooted block. Why keep the rooted block? get a new one! I mean, bore sleeves, f**k that sounds scary to me aye

I don't like it one bit myself mate. I'm only going by what my machinist had recommended to me.
I asked him wheteher the bore will have distortion issues, whether the exposed edge on the sleeve will scuff the pistons etc. He told me not to worry and that many motors out of factory come with sleeves installed after casting .
Only time will tell.

Oh man that is a big no no and you're living on the edge especially if you plan to rev it. Your machinist is talking BS. Nobody in their right mind would consider building a performance 5.0 with a sleeve and he should have told you so from day one.

Honestly stock used 5.0 blocks are cheap and you don't need anything more with your setup.

Mate, it's probably not what you want to hear given its ready to go together etc but you run the risk of losing the lot in one big bang.

The thing won't see more then 6,000rpm so it should be sweet. Just threw the crank in today and assembled the pistons/rods. I love these engines so easy to assemble and yet I make it look so hard due to complete incompetance.

I'm excited because I know what it was like before with all that s**t going on inside that motor.

Well we are know a week away from completion. The agony I've gone through past the last 2 months is difficult to put in words. I'm interested how much I can tickle out of it with a STOCK tune and cam??????

I can see it running a 14.1 disappointingly but whatever the result I've blueprinted the engine to the MAX (objective) and in my opinion as long as it runs properly the time is irrelevent. Pics coming soon.

running about 9.5/1 while before it was 9.7/1. The MAHLE pistons I'm using have larger relieves (forced indution application) and therefor my comp will be back were it was initially
.

Thats not the only difference though. You said some had been shaved off the head, and is the compression height of the piston the same as std?

woo hoo....its no longer "stock" mechanicals...

and i would be happy with a 14.1 with that setup....after reading all pages i really dont see why you would spend so much on it when you have specifically kept power/torque down because your worried about spending money on fuel.

I'd be worried if I were relying on devine forces. Fired it up today?
