I swear, my car must be cursed, or I'm copping a whole lot of bad karma for god knows what!

The iat and ect sensors seem to be fine and I'm thinking it could be an ignition thing as it sounds to me to be missing. I went to my mechanics yesterday to screw around with it in his carpark and play with the spark leads, as the neighbours aren't that keen on the noise. I'd gotten halfway through checking the leads and spark when I was getting out of the car the wind caught the door and flung it open really hard. I got out, closed the door and noticed it rubbed hard on the fender as it closed. I went to open it again and it wouldn't open. The door hit hard against the fender. The bloody brackets that the door sits on have bent out and now I'm going to have to take the door off and try to bend these brackets back, which I don't think will be an easy feat. I managed to get a screwdriver between the fender and door with a towel and get the door open again, then by just about lifting the car by the door, have managed to get it so it will just clear and I can open it. s**t I don't need...

Yeah, well that's a good enough reason for a colour change when I decide to fix the body up!

I'm pretty sure I've found my problem. It looks like it's the coolant temp sensor. I'm really hoping it is because if it's not, then I'm stumped. I've gone through just about everything else. My data logger is now telling me ect is sitting at around 10 - 15*C all the time. New ect will go in this morning and hopefully I can throw the pro m maf back in and get it to work.

I've sorted my leaning out issue at cruise and light - medium throttle, so now it's time to play around with the tune and see if I can pull a bit of fuel out and ensure the timing is where it should be. Whether I get it done or not, I'll be at the Motorplex tomorrow night, running on the current tune being the worst case scenario. Everyone's been getting better times so far this season, so hopefully I can jump on the bandwagon.

For those who are interested, I had a faulty hego which I didn't think possible as they were replaced not so long ago. I wish I checked them a week ago!

Oh yeah, I fixed the door yesterday too. It's better than it's ever been. :)

HAHAHAHA! I wish I could. I was trying everything lastnight to get around it, but to no avail! I can see tonight's going to be a good night for it as well.

At least I'll have an extra week to sort out my tune.

I've discovered another issue that has been causing me problems. Today when driving home from work, my car started being a b**ch again, leaning out on light acceleration. I started logging and got it to do it again a few times then checked the log. It seemed like the maf was dropping out and going haywire when it ws doing it. I gave the plug a wiggle and took off again and it hasn't done it again. Half the clip on my plug is gone so I may have to look at getting a new plug for it.

I'll be heading down to the Motorplex on Wednesday night, so hopefully I can see a new PB. It seems like it's the thing to do these days. :)

Just check the seal hasn't tipped over in the connector Chad. This happens quite a lot when you're unplugging it many times.
I actually fixed a guy's car that was running in MAF failure mode all the time...he'd been ripped a total of $1500 to not fix it by so called EFI experts!?!

Thanks Pete, I'll check that today. This is why I'm trying to suss out my dramas myself, cos I can take it to someone and they might think they've fixed it and in a couple of days it's back to it's old tricks and I'll be however much out of pocket.

I went down to the strip lastnight and had a pretty average night. My launching has gone to s**t. I got a couple of 13.9s and flat 14s. They were all done with 2.2 60 foot times, so if I were able to manage another 1.9 I would have been able to get the 13.6 again, I guess, but I didn't, so I'll have to try again soon.

There's something in that motor that's not right and every time I think I've sorted it, something else seems to be there. Today will be new plugs, cap and rotor, and checking the passenger side cat.

Oh yeah, yesterday I managed to get my msd 6AL-2 ignition module installed. I got a bracket made up like s-tranzor's and mounted it to the strut tower. I also got heat shielding around it as it sits directly above the headers.

What sort of timing are you running?

I was using a spark adder for WOT and just added 2*, then another 2*. There was a hint of pinging the second time so set the adder back to 0 and ran with the timing that was already in there, which I think is around 35*.

I've been pretty busy this past week, so haven't had much of a chance to do much on the car. Saturday morning I borrowed my mechanics hoist and pulled the other cat off and that is fine.

I think I've figured out my problem with the leaning out issue. I've been constantly thinking that everything is the same as it was before and wondering why I'm having trouble with it leaning out coming on to throttle from cruise, even when I go back to my original configuration. I'd completely forgotten that I'd changed the rockers out to 1.7s, which would be letting more air in. I have an RDO today, so will be spending a bit of time playing around with the tune again.

I thought I'd better dig this puppy up again.

Yesterday I took my car in to XFT to put it on the dyno and adjust the timing with the help of Simon. I drove in there and the car ran 253rwhp off the bat on his dyno. A bit less than I was expecting, but as we know, all dynos are different. We after a couple of hours and with increasing heat (37*C) we settled at 270rwhp. Earlier runs saw 278, but we were still trying to pick up more torque down low and with heatsoak, every run was seeing less power up top. Ultimately though, big torque gains were made down low and peak hp was made a touch higher in the rev-range. Up until 4000rpm an average of 20+rwhp was gained while torque was up 40 - 45ftlb in that range.

It was much too hot lastnight to take it down the strip, but I hope to get down there next week.

Just need a new bottom end now!

As i said Chad, good to see some positive results and that your happy with Simons tuning.
The torque gains you've got there are HUGE, i bet it feels different on the road.

Can you post up the dyno sheet?
