My older bought this car back in 2001 for $8000 with 70,000km on it..
it was a dream come true for us, with that price and that amount of km we were looking at ea/eb's, we hit the jackpot and scored this baby, near perfect condition in and out..
BUILD STAGE 1
EXHAUST
it was bog standard at the time..
the first mod was a 2.5in red back exhaust the we picked up for $200..
its sounded like a v8 to us, and believe it or not the same exhaust is still on and going strong..

SOUND
we then decided it needed some good sound, mind you, he was 16 and i was 14, so we got our hands on 2 pairs of clarion splits 180w... and we put a pair of splits in the front, and the other pair in the back as silly as that sounds..
sound difference was already a lot better, but the standard radio and tape didn't do it for us..

We then got our hands on a new head unit, a jvc mp3 player, pretty crappy now, but top of the range when we got it.. sound quality was much better and having cd's there as opposed to just tape and radio was gold..

since we went that far we though we would go one step further and get a sub and amp, due to being young and poor, we saved up for a shiny red sony xplode 12'' and a cadiance amp..
we would go for a cruise just to hear that sub pump..

SUSPENSION + RIMS
after about a year of having the car look standard, we thought it was time for some new shoes, we bought a pair of some really really battered au xr 17'' for $100 and no rubber, they had a fair bit of scrapes and scratches, so after countless hours of polishing trying to smooth the edges we decided to powder coat the rims white to make them look good/new again.. my dad did this for free since thats pretty much his job, we then threw some second hand recap tires for $80 on them.
the result (at the time ofcourse) was amazing.. they had looked just like we had wanted them to, just like the ones you see on fast and the furious
they look stupid now when i think about it, but back then it was nothing but compliments..

after looking like a monster truck for several months, we had bought a set of pedders sport ryder suspension, neither of us were mechanically minded at all, but we were as stubborn as horses so we took a stab at installing them our selves.. it took a whole day for the front and a day for the back but we did it..
it didn't sit as low as we would have liked but never the less it looked good.
warning please mind the sticker, we were both under 18, i think that says alot

MOTOR
the car now looked good, sounded good, and went ok.. so we decided to make it fast..
first motor modification on the list was k'n'n panel filter.. we had really high hopes for this paper to work its magic, it claimed 10-15hp on the box.. i was so excited.. we fitted the filter, took it for a drive and noticed F@#k all difference.. i was shattered.. i took it back to repco and told them it didnt work, so they replaced it with another one. sadly that was the same, no performance upgrade :( so i complained to k''n'n and they sent me a free pod filter claiming that they work better, fail again obviously..

i then purchased a stage 2 shft kit. and installed it ourselves.. it worked a treat, we harassed the tranny day and night thinking it was now bullet proof because of the shift kit..

end of stage 1..

very sadly my brother is no longer with us today, this caused me to neglected the car for about 2 years, it sat in the garage with a cover over it. it was even abit hard and sad to see it there at times so i considered selling it, put it on car sales and rejected every offer i got. it was like i wanted it gone but i couldn't let go of it...
but a few months ago i had decided that i want to complete my brothers dream and turn this beast into a show room car..
my future plans are;
-full leather interior,
-dvd screen + player
-custom boot with alpine type x subs
-4wd locka style diff.
-c4 tranny
-new paint job
-tint
-new rims + koni shocks
-probably the most exciting a nice a** turbo + all the goodies

most of these mods will happen this year, some very very soon..

Nice build mate, piece of advise though, keep an eye on those rotors. They crack around the cross drilling and will eventually crack right through....not cool.

Otherwise i love that plenume! how much did that set you back?
