Well it's time to get this thread under way I feel.

This is the car as purchased about a month ago.

It will replace this

The stereo gear all ready to go

First thing was to get the tunes pumping. The head unit was the first thing to be installed. It's a Clarion DVD player with ipod control and motorized 7 inch screen.

The amp and rear speakers went in next along with the sub. Temporary speaker panels were made out of 16mm MDF for the front splits. These have been installed where the map pockets once resided (pictures of the stereo install will follow once I get home from work on Saturday morning). These will be replaced with fibreglass units currently under construction in my secret underground lair. Can I just stop for a minute and say this stereo set up is awesome to the power of sick (well for the price anyway). Handles the Metallica and Pantera tunes with a minimum of distortion.

The FR17's Simmons have been removed from the old and fitted to the new, however only the rears have received any polish to date but the overall effect is there (once again pictures to follow).

Next on the agenda is to finish the fibreglass front door pods and polish the remaining wheels.

Then the carbon fibre look interior plastics will be transfered over along with the autometer gauges and momo steering wheel (check out my gallery to see them as installed in the old car).

That will more than likely be followed by the Scorcher body kit being painted and fitted.

I'm seriously itching to get the turbo transfered over but I'm going to try and hold out until Snort have released their water to air intercooler as I dont want to relocate the battery and hack into the wheel wells on this car to run the intercooler piping.

Any way that's the story so far, I'll add photo's when I get home and keep the updates coming as they happen.

The old one had some dramas getting rego (engine shagged amongst other things) and due to a lack of funds, sat around for just over 2 years. In that time the clear coat lifted off the roof and bonnet and the car just generally went to s**t. So I figured the cost of returning it to it's former glory would far exceed the out lay for a new ride. So I found a Fairmont Ghia (the old one's only a gli) in the colour I originally wanted (i didnt set out to buy a poly green gli but it was the best of the bunch at the time). All the good bits off the gli are easily transferable so it was a no brainer in the end.

Hi, sounds like you are due for some fun over the next little while.

Nice pick up on the Ghia. Best base to begin with.

Cheers
