update: im unsure at the moment whether i should cut my losses and sell it now, before it starts to cost me money, or bite the bullet and keep it.

the climate control is f**k (blend door motor), the radios frozen again and the 6-stacker has packed it up  , the trans has developed a sickness, and the headgasket leaking is getting worse.

what should i do? :(

Fix it and keep it mate. Headgasket is easy enough if you got the tools. Blend door motor i dunno but get a couple of mates around to give ya a hand, put on a barby and a couple cartons and im sure ull have an army of help haha. Radio replace it with a aftermarket unit, can pick up a decent unit for 200ish.

Get an au steel headgasket then you wont have to do it again. Give trans a flush and change head unit for another genuine second hand with stacker for $250. Problem solved. They are a wonderful car and will serve you well if you give them a little bit of tlc.

For the money, you could completly rebuild the EL Ghia (probably twice) before the costs equalled the price of a new Ghia, and you'll have a better car for it. This is because it would be completly custom (interior/paint/driveline etc).
Plus the fact that you allready have it and the time/effort you have allready put in. Also, the interest that you would have to pay on a new Ghia, means you could build another EL (a third one) before going past the amount of the loan.
So bascially your only decision is, hmm the Ghia I6, the Ghia I6 Turbo or the Ghia V8 today? :D
