That ride height is nice, pitty it's so unpractical! I also love your idea for the power for your Navman. Mine is a mini usb connector, maybe i should add a mini usb to the top of my dash?

Cheers

That sweet ride height with no practicality is a bummer, wagons weren't designed to be low I guess.

How'd you get it down to 5V Ben?

you got the 12 volt ciggy plug under the cowling or something to get the 5v USB out?

Cheers,
Tim

Yep, you got it. I cut the original power cable into two pieces, one very short which you can see, and the 2nd runs down to behind the stereo where I spliced in a 12 ciggy socket, and just plugged her in.

Simple.

I don't mind a firm ride, but having the diff bottom out is not acceptable in my book.

It is all fixed now. I raised it 16mm.

Pics tomorrow night.

Cheers

Lower ride height in rear is do-able with change in pinion angle to suit new diff height, as per seen on that dodgy buggers multicoloured wagon..........

More Suspension Stuff - Take Two

On Sunday, after playing Taxi for my Wife and the Dog, taking them to a Dog Show, I was very sure, the rear was too low.

So I pulled out the leaf spring packs to play with the ride height.

This is the setup I took out of the car.
Image

I tried a couple of alternative solutions, and settled on taking out two of the short spacers, and using the 1.5" blocks, resulting in raising the rear 16mm. This is approx half way between where I started from and the too low height.

Here are some pics of the new set up installed in the car.

Image

While the springs were out I gave them a good coat of Black Engine Enamel and applied more rubber grease to the rubbers.

The rear now sits marginally higher than the front with a full tank of LPG and half a tank of Petrol.

Last night I did my usual Monday night run from the Dog Obediance ground with Speed Humps, Dips and rough roads, two dogs + gear and three adults. No issues to report. Very happy with the compromise.

I will trim the U Bolts soon.

BA DOHC PCM

Another piece of the BA puzzle arrived yesterday.
Image

Scored this N/A PCM off Ebay for the grand sum of $44 including post.

I should have the remaining parts needed to start deciphering the wiring on Friday.

Cheers
BenJ

I would have thought it was more than 16mm difference from it looking like it stuffed rear springs(reads as gay sagging in the rear, like the doof doof poofs like.), to sitting a little higher rear to front, but you took photos on the driveway this time, so it is hard to tell.

BA DOHC 8 - PARTS

This past week I received the last of the needed factory parts for the DOHC install.

BA Electronic Throttle Pedal

BA Intake Piping and Airbox Lid. I have the Airbox base too.

I can now start on stripping the wiring down to the required minimum.

There are a couple of other projects on the boil as well. More details and pics soon.

Cheers
