Love all the lights- much better like that, huh? You got yourself some solder, some LED's, and converted them all to LED's yet? Only ones worth keeping standard are the map ones really. Doesn't run ya battery down when you forget to shut the door properly is an added bonus.
Once again, very good work with the car BENJ. Remember lowering blocks of about 2.5 inches, the top spring from standard wagon and the rest of the leaves from a one tonne - ended up with a good handling ride. Fiend LEDs will come later, when I decide on what colour to use. Re the rear suspension, I am using the standard leaf springs with the Load Helpers and will add Heavy Duty shocks. I think the Ute Springs will be overkill for my application. I am keeping an eye out for a rear swaybar, but they are pretty thin on the ground from factory. You got lucky with yours. I will probably end up buying Whiteline front and rear swaybars. Cheers BenJ

Which is four tenths of what the whole car cost! Got lucky getting it for around $10NZ in the end, yeahp. Keep your eye out, you'll find one eventually - either that or sell all your other cars, parts and first born for the whiteline system! My wagon needs to move up to a fatter front sway bar and some nicer front shocks, but since it's still a daily driver / work wagon and is only masquerading as a wannabe drifty boy racer weapon there's a whole heap of other things that probably need the attention and money. It will be jealous of your front end when it's done for quite a while.
By the way - did I miss you telling us what springs are in the front now? Guess they're from the red machine, but what are they again? |

The springs and shocks in the wagon now are from the Red Sedan. They are King Super Lows and BOGE struts.
For some reason though, the wagon sits higher in the front than the sedan did with the same setup. Oh well. BenJ

Now, I wouldn't have thought that was possible... Eur --- Leave it alone and lower the back... Or --- Humour me --- Measure the rear wheel arch from TDC to the ground. Take the rear wheels off. And put axles on blocks so that the measurement from wheel arch TDC to ground is 1" less (your increase in block height). Now stand back and have a look at the front again. For some reason (which could be gone into in great detail and would require Einstien like computations) this should make the front appear lower too. Try it. Take photos. Just for the curiosity and science of it.
And hey --- Having a low car is good, but with the extra wheel base of the wagon you gotta remember to be a little more careful with those driveways and speed bumps..... Have you chopped the sideskirts in half and added 70 or 80 mm to the middle yet?! |

Sounds like FAR to much HARD work there Fiend.
Lets do it the easy way. Here is a pic of the Sedan and a pic of the Wagon taken at the same place from similar angles. 
It is only 15mm or so difference, but it is different none the less. BenJ

Yeahp, wheels always look better on wagons. Sedans can get away with steelies...
I still say that when the back comes down, the front will appear to move down too. It is because of the relationship between the something to do with something and the way the something else is connected to the other something. You see, all those somethings then pivot off the something or other, which results in your eyes thinking something has happened to the front. You'd have to measure what your eyes have presumed is a lowering of the front, which would require finding an additional special something. Just for the hell of it, am now going to the local Ford dealership and asking them for their best special something. Once out of hospital, will return and let you know all about it. Don't think I'll like the men in white coats very special somethings... Maybe just forget leaving the house until the weather clears or something. [beeep]ing idoit Fiend. |

BenJ -> The wagon is looking good man. Maybe your front end hasn't settled yet? I can't see the wagon having different body mountings to cause the higher front end. I always thought if the rear end was lowered too much it caused the front end to rise up a bit, sorta like the effect of the heavy trailer without load balance bits hitched up, the car appear's to have it's nose up in the air. My EB is sitting about 10mm lower in the rear end since the LPG tank was fit, same Kings Lows all round. Poly bushes in everything except lower rear control arms & Pedders touring gas whites to suit lower springs (couldn't afford red's for the EB  ) I was thinking about getting some super lows for the front to balance the car out a bit more.

BenJ like the look of the black wagon cant say i have ever seen one in black, and good price too! i would like to see the el dash from the red best installed that would be a sweet ride. are you interested in the front clear indicators like on troymans car or do you like the amber lenses?

Thanks for the kind words. Re the indicator lenses, I have the the clear ones on the Red car to go on. Although, I do like the orange lenses against the Black, more than other colours that is for sure. I am working out the wiring for the EL dash conversion at the moment, so hopefully it won't be too long before it is done. BenJ

BenJ Nice one do you know who sells those aftermarket clear lenses can you get em off ebay or something? can i ask what you need to sort out wth the dash wireing i thort since you have already had it in the red one that you would have modded it already like plug and play sort of thing? is the wagon different like extra plugs because its a mont? i think i have just answered my own question lol! |
