Had a mate who disabled ABS on his old EB XR8, had ABS fail cut in at 170kmh.... Needless to say the EB is dead. Rolled 5 times.

Yeah, don't just disable, because that defies the point of weight.
Remove it all, and replace the lines with a non ABS set. Then you can remove the ABS lump under the opposite corner the SLS was under. Just under the firewall there should be a joiner to the rear, you can easily replace the 2 front wheel lines and the line to this joiner, its down near the fuel lines. Might need to replace the master cyl with a 3 line type or just remove the bung if it has one..

i think if i go that far glass will be out and it will get dropped on a chassis

Combine that with glass and stripped doors and your easily removing 30+ Kgs..
Dropped on a chassis? Please explain?

I haven't weighed it so don't quote me as truth, but I estimate 6-8kg per door glass, a couple if kilos each for the 1/4 glass, 6-12 for each window mech, door lock actuator, and the lock rods and handles. Maybe even remove the door lock mechs on the 3 passenger doors and weld the doors shut? The ABS and associated crap maybe another 10-15.. There's not much weight in just a shell. That's what you want to aim for. I don't think youd be getting into any soecial or power ranges that that are gonna require you to get a roll cage or anything. Work wise, Pretty simple really, removal is pretty basic stuff..

Well due to family commitments i can not test out the old girl this weekend and am away for the holidays so forum wont be as active, will try to check daily.
Well cutting all the s**t from the door lost 6kg so not a bad effort will do the rest after holidays |

The flatbar is to hold the window shut until i buy plexiglass So basicly i took to it with an angle grinder and a drill. cut out the face holding all the mechs in and then drilled the spot welds with christmas tree drill bit, a bit of hammer word and wollah 6kg of dead weight gone. Still have to clean it up and cover it with aluminum sheet. |
