i still dont see the reason behind calling it a turbo EF rebuild when you removed the turbo setup.

i dont know why people want shiny welsh plugs, i just paint over mine. and i dont believe people when they say "so you can check on the plugs for damage/corrosion" but i have never seen anyone check them... i cant even see mine with the stock exhaust manifold on

Jesus huggy,,,, i havent removed the turbo setup ,im going to run it stock untill i rebuild the turbo and aquire appropriate parts

and i had no desire to have or to not have "Shiney" Welsh plugs i had just popped them out because im looking to get new ones and then the block got painted lol


to rebuild the turbo im looking at 1k, ill either do that or purchase a new t4

At the moment im working on headgasket size for compression issues for when i do run the turbo

Not that I know of. He used an over head (obviously) I-beam that run the length of his place.

We could manage if we unbolt the block from the gearbox and remove that first, then the box..

you do remember the fun we had lifting my old block onto your ute? :P that was 4 people dunno how 2 will go lifting it out of a engine bay unless one of you is secretly super man then your all set :lol:

That's ok, we'll just get some hairy men to help :lol:

Lifting it will be a bit of a b**ch, but do-able.. Just have to be careful not to drop it on the radiator support 8-)

hahaha i still remember that :lol:

thought he was going to hire a crane?

seeing as its the old motor just cut it into sections and take it out piece by piece.... :lol:

Yeah just get an old hack saw and cut it into small pieces, shouldn't take long :)

Yeah I reckon too. But hitting oil wouldn't be great, which means you need to undo a single bolt :shock:

i was on the way to the docs today down sandybay and i saw an unsual sight

its like a lawnmower powerd bike thats been made into a chopper.
Its not that thats unusual, its the guy riding it is dressed like nazi german soldier

That guy is funny as hell.

What made you paint the head? I love the look of the head and rocker cover being bare metal. When they're clean they look really good, if they're polished a bit they look a million dollars :D

That dude on the bike looks bad a**! I want Stahlhelm to wear when I'm on my bike!

I can understand not fitting the turbo gear until the turbo is rebuilt. Why risk a freshly rebuilt engine to a suspect turbo? Blades can chip off and do lots of damage! About $1k sounds about right for a rebuild, my T04b cost a few bucks under $1k, that was 2 years ago i think, anyway, it's been a while since it was rebuilt.

I like shiny welsh plugs, i think it helps to add size & volume to the block, instead of just painting over them. I reckon brass welsh plugs look good on a block that is done in ford blue, like my mighty boy's F8b engine. On my Ghia i6, with the extractors you can see the welsh plugs, but on the intake side, you have to be under the car & looking up under the manifold to see them, so that side doesn't really matter much.

im going to get the rocker professionally polished , and maby the top section of the intake plenium/ bottom half ford blue
