Lucky they were just dreams. Get an intercooled kit when they come out. They will be pretty good.

The smaller one produces more power. Because its not made to conform with OEM noise and emissions it is made without restrictions that let it create more power.

So anyways. I paid for a 6boost manifold, GT35r and 50mm turbosmart wastegate today.

Should have it sometime next week. Hoping to have it fitted and running in a few weeks.

In my experience guys it dont matter what you do with your car, give it 2 months max after mods and you will be hungry for more power. What seems to go hard now will get boring and then more plans will come forward. Ahhhhhhh all in the name of that grunt that hardens your dax, puts a smile from ear to ear and makes the hair on the back of your neck stand. Good luck man

If it's your daily driver 79raven, yeah that sounds about right. 2mths or so & you are wanting more. If it's something you only jump in from time to time, the need for more isn't as high.

At the end of it all, we will keep modifying our car's because we want more.

Dansedgli -> Sounds like the basis for a good lot of "more power" lol.

Cheers

correct me if im wrong but she was boosting from the entire rev range, like superchargers do wouldnt you be better off starting by decompressing the head? a decomp plate for inline 6's should be redily available i would think. Also if your still planning to use it as a tow car for the bikes and you go turbo how are you going to handle the lag because she is not going to be on boost all the time and dirt roads are going to suck. Going turbo you would have to do head work anyway so I would say investigate decomp plate and intercooler. Also the coppers love pods and you might find yourself walking home becauses she either way is going to get alot of attention so instead why not try a larger stock inlet either ss or something of the sort so it looks a bit neater to the boys in blue and another thing they cant pick

Don't spose you've driven a turbo 4L?
They're not exactly Laggy.

That and Dan has owned a number of Turbo Falcon's (3 from memory) so i think he knows what to expect :P

no I may not own a turbo falcon but i do know i dragged a mate in an xr6 turbo and to 140 he could not shake a tj magna advance with only mod being a k&n air filter......... Thats embarrassing. I also have owned a supercharged Lj 6 and a mx6 turbo and while the mx6 was fun under boost the charger as a daily driver was heaps better.... and that was a 173 block and 202 low comp head designed by Rod Hadfield ( and installed by one of his mechanics at Castlemaine) ....... The hotrod guru of oz, so I think I may have some cred man. You decomp the heads, you get more power out of turbo and superchargers and while a turbo runs only through a certain rev range a charger will run non stop, hence more power right though the rev range and no lag. Also with the intercooling topic just a thought maybe try looking into jap cars Dan. They seem to be able to fit a huge amount of stuff in a small space so maybe someone out there might have done something that you may have not thought of yet..... me I am uncertain but it might be worth a thought

You wont have the lag of a small 2.5L high revving V6, these 4.0L have so much torque it wont matter. I dont think the person with that XR6 turbo could drive for s**t.

I don't want to turn Dan's build thread into a supercharger vs turbo arguement, but a decently setup Turbo 4L has minimal lag, especially with a T5.

Using the example of a Magna racing an XR6T has little credibility when we're talking about someone chasing 250rwkw, well in excess of what a stock XR6T will manage.

lol at comparing a turbo falcon to an MX6.

Ive had a turbo EB, a turbo EA, a different turbo AU and a turbo maverick on a straight LPG.

I could tow a car behind the maverick at 110kms in 5th gear up hills like I wasn't towing anything at all.

Unlike a small displacement jap car you can fit a 6-700hp turbo to a falcon and it will have boost before 2000rpm and because it is 4 litres it has plenty of torque off boost too. It doesnt need to make boost at idle to tow.

In the end I want 300+rwkw again. The supercharger kit wasn't going to get there so I replaced it with something that I know will. End of story.

Still the matter remains....... do you or do you not make more power out of a decompressed motor, turbo or charged? Also there was no comparing the mx6 to turbo falcons, just a comparison to turbo and superchargers. Yes you will make more power out of a turbo than a charger but using a turbo means more mods from bonnet to tail pipe. Once again correct me if am wrong? Also on your thread about using the au for your bikes, if you are driving on a dirt road doing 40k's you will have to select your gears right as to not stall her and also if you accidently press that little too hard on the pedel under boost with a turbo out will go the a** end, right? On tight roads in the bush the last thing you want is for that to happen. Now you have decided to go 300+, thats great man but wouldnt it have more cred if you were able to do it with a charger than going turbo and being another turbo driver? The 4l quad cam ls400's can produce how much off chargers? Yes more again off turbo's but I would think going into the unknown and pushing the boundrys would be more fun. And yes the xr6t driver could drive but with them having a close geared box till 3rd I was still in second when he grabbed 3rd. The tj's stock with a charger on it will get 225kw at the front wheels before high end mods, your charged Au was getting 195? People underestimate the Tj's.
