I've never noticed how close mine is as the exhaust shop did the cutting and fitting of my cooler pipes.. haha yeah even when I put them on the computer I had to look at the photos to see if they were right side up. Hopefully enough room to move it all round and you are right they can come in on an angle. Pretty lucky with the exhaust shop doing all the work for you. We are thinking of doing the cutting ourselves and making up a template pipe with pvc and just hand it to the exhaust to make up. |

The turbosmart reg went in today and looks really nice !
   Moved it a bit to the left of where the other one sat so that if intercooler pipe needed to run through that area it would clear it. Only really needed to change the bracket and one of the fittings to a 90 degree bend. Will start it up tomorrow and try and fiddle with the baseline pressure. |

Looking good mate. Can't go past turbosmart. They are a quality item! An fpr 1200 will be what I will upgrade to when I push more boost through mine in the future...

Thanks Corbin  I thought with the fuel it was best to go with the turbosmart reg and managed to get it fairly cheap too.Phoaw 1200 ! Will all that extra boost require that huge a reg ? |

No it wont but i like the idea of buying parts that are kind of an overkill to support future mods, dont like spending money twice haha. The only differences is flow capability between the 800,1200,2000 and 3000 right? other than that they basically are all the same design? From what i can tell by pics of them it seems like it.

That's fair enough, if it gives you peace of mind and isn't too much more in price over the 800. Unfortunately had to buy things twice on this build but it's all been a learning experience.
I just found this info and gives a good summary of the differences. http://www.turbosmart.com.au/technical-articles/how-does-an-fpr-work/ Seems like for larger HP and different fuels, the 800 stands for 800HP worth of fuel (plenty for me  )

Yeah i knew that the number stood for hp ratings, and yeah the higher rated ones do flow more. Also interestingly in that turbosmart page it states that the fpr1200 and up is resistant to most race fuels and alcohol. Which would be a big advantage if wanting to change fuel type in the future! Would deffs run a 1200 in the future when my car becomes a powerhouse! I allready have a modified fuel rail sitting in the shed ready to accept an aftermarket reg so its as easy as bolting it all on

Definitely get the 1200 if you are planning on running some different fuels. They are a quality fpr so can't go wrong.
Where did you get the fuel rail from? |

Yeah we'll it is a possibility. The fuel rail was on the engine when I bought the donor car. It's just been put in the shed. Looks as if it was just modified to take a hose and a clamp instead of the factory reg.

That would work out well then Corbin cause you can then remove the std regulator and not have to worry bout the hole.
I started looking at other fuel rails before we put on the adapter to the standard fuel rail. |

Yeah had some dodgy looking rising rate reg on it when I got it. Looks like a fitting was just brazed on to accept a normal hose and clamp. So I could put anything there.

Got the front bumper off the car today, wasn't that bad once all the bolts where located.
 Also removed the plastic guards off the back of the front bumper.  Better shot of the transmission cooler... but it looked like the two metal bars running in front of it would push the cooler out.  So the bar on the left (which I believe held the factory transmission cooler?) was cut in half so it held the pipe in place and clear the transmission cooler.   Also ground back the bolt on the right side so it sat back a bit.

Just slap an adapter on the end of it and away you go ! I can now see with the front bumper off what you meant about the clearance with the pipes !  It is going to be a tasks getting the right angles for them to clear.

The intercooler was half mounted up to the car yesterday to play around with how it should fit.
Moved it all the way to the left so that it is as far away from the a/c dryer and front reo bar holder.   Brackets made up.   How close it sits to the dryer at the moment, but might clear it by moving the right side of the cooler out a little.  Tested out the front bumper in front of it and a bit will need to be cut out of the bumper so it all fits back up. |

The intercooler is getting there ! Looks like it will all fit up, just !
My old man did some great work yesterday in cutting some of the front bumper to make sure it fit over the cooler. Bit of steel to measure out the line.... Also made sure to only cut a little off the sides as this wasn't really causing issues.       Brackets made up to hold the underneath of the cooler as it just wobbled too much with only the top ones holding it on.  Moved the right side of the cooler out a little so it would clear the a/c the best it could.  Side shot to see how close it will run   How it looks with the bumper back over it, love it It's slightly off center but planning on putting mesh behind the front bumper to make the cooler less obvious.
