no, it doesnt matter at all. working at an engine reconditioners, i see those engines painted everyday and we have never had one back, and there is always paint in the water gallerys

note to self, don't take an engine near your reconditioners.
you'd paint the block once my new ones are in. so they blend in

Just had a read over the thread, the wagon is coming along nicely!
As for the paint in the water jacket, I can't imagine it clogging up a radiator as badly as rust flaking off the inside of the block can do. Cheers ToranaGuy

Hey with regards to the EL XR headlight surround why not get one made in Firbeglass.
The details below are for venom, the make a firbeglass kit for EF/EL falcons and i know it is available with an EL XR front. Try asking them if they will just make the upper section for you. It's not paint from someone painting the block with no welsh plugs fitted. There are bigger issues at hand if a radiator is blocked than a wee bit of paint in the water jackets. |

i have pulled a few radiators apart, you cant honestly tell whats paint and what has come out of tap water... so unless you get lab results indicating that there is no paint blocking up a radiator id say it is possible.
i have pics of my wagons radiator   now im no expert, and this is just a mild blockage... but i dont remember pouring dirt and rocks into my radiator.. so if this is what comes out of tap water over the years im sure paint flakes will do the same job. feel free to prove me wrong tho. note: im not trying to argue here im just stating my experience. |

all i'm saying is that if a radiator is easy to block up why would you help it along by letting paint into the water jackets

Got in behind with a small butane torch and 'welded' it real good
Also went over the 'welding' I'd done on the outside, it's now very flexible and flexes nicely with the whole bumper, no signs of cracking so very happy.Sanded back the 'welding' and bogged it up, will sand and post pics tomorrow. |

Nice progress mate, I've never known exactly how plastic welding was done, nice to read about a ford mods member doing it DIY!
