i need to make up my mind. i found out i can get a low kms AU motor from the wreckers in the next town for really cheap.

but not a fan of cutting the k frame. has anyone got any pics of modified sumps or k frames?

Get a modified sump, so you don't require an engineers report on the sub frame mod.

Cheers

Don't need to modify the k-frame to fit a au engine in, Just grind of the Fins on front of the au engine, They will then fit in fine :)

aren't the fins only about half a centimetre thick? is that all you have to take off?

yup. and presuming you have the ea k frame still you'll have enough clearance.
i wasnt going to mod my k frame if i knew it would clear by other methods.
and i havent had any leaking issues as i only took it flat so i suggest being pateint with it and doing it so you get a even result..

if your really fussy use a flat file to just smooth it out afterwards lightly to get any missed burrs with the angle grinder

EF-EL K Frame is very different to the EA-ED.

To put an AU engine in an EF-EL you have to cut the front of the sump off at 45 degrees and weld in a new plate.

Cheers
