This is my daily, an EB series I 5L. The body is pretty rough but the running gear and interior are pretty good. So far it is lowered a few inches, sits on BA XR6(?) rims with 235/45/17 tyres, has genie extractors and a single 2.5" system and an EF thermo conversion using davies craig controller. Also has EF seats front and rear. I have gotten rid of the ugly fusible link wiring and buss plate, and wired in a fusible link block from an EF, fitted some nice terminals, an optima D34 and some nice big power and earth cabling. I have also upgraded the earths from battery to body and engine. I have fitted a 110a mitsubishi alternator off an EF v8 as well. I'm also currently in the process of doing a full custom boot install for the stereo, and a custom VDO Platinum series cluster. I have all the gear to finish them both off, just need more time..

So far the engine is stock, but I'm saving money for a trickflow top end kit, 347 stroker kit and either a Vipec or autronic ECU.

Being an auto elec by trade, first thing I decided was that those preoblematic, hideous fusible link wires and buss plate had to go. Here are a few pics of the process and the finished product. I'm pretty happy with how it came out in the end.

Here is how it looked to start with... ewwww..

Much neater now man, great work. Why didn't you hide the wiring up under the front guard while you were working on it?

What's with the wire that looks like it's coming off the back of the alternator & going to the earth block? Is the picture deceiving?

Cheers

When I first started it I had a work car as we had a spare one at work when one of the reps left, but we got a new rep a lot sooner then we thought we would so I had to get the falcon back together pretty quickly..

Plus I didnt want to go too far with it as the body is pretty rough and had a dodgy repair done after cleaning up a kangaroo. The underside of the bonnet is green and the inside of the drivers door is white and from a series 2 or an ED as it has the large round speaker hole in it.. lol.. It looks good from far, but its far from good.

I originally bought the car for the motor to put into my cortina, but its ended up being my daily coz i havent bothered to get a new gearbox for my subaru..

I'm looking for a decent EB body to transfer the running gear into though. I'm not doing anything major to this body that I cant pull out and put into another shell without too much trouble. If I was going to go to the trouble of hiding the wiring I'd rewire the car from scratch and do it properly. I dont like cutting and shutting old harnesses. As it is now, I only had to extend 6 wires from memory.

The blue cable going to the mount at the back of the alternator is just an upgraded earth for the alternator. On the motorcrud alternator, there is a bracket that bolts from the alternator to one of the exhaust manifold bolts, which didn't line up on the mitsubishi unit. So I just took the stud out of the motorcraft one and screwed it into the mitso unit. Thats also where the earths for the relays go to now instead of the battery terminal like they did originally.

Off the earth buss bar, there is one going to the block, one to the back of the alternator, one to one of the bolts on the side of the strut tower for the crossmember and two going to the battery terminal. Decent earths made a huge difference.

Nice explanation there man, and I can appreciate the position you were in at the time. I'd love to go hiding the wiring & what not on my Eb Ghia, but it's my daily drive, so until I have something else I can daily drive, it ain't going to happen....

What happened to the corty?

Cheers

The cortina is at a mates farm because I dont have room here..

I lost motivation with it when a bit of bog in the roof cracked so the paint is now totally rooted and requires a full respary. The body is still good though, only one small dint in the bottom of the rear quarter and no rust that I've noticed.

I had it at the yard at work for a while and people tell me it won tuff street at the summernats some time back in the 90s.

I've got some pics somewhere on my work computer. I'll take my USB key in tomorrow and grab them.. cant upload them from work as fordmods is blocked :(

This isn't it, but its a very similar colour, except mine has a bit of a purple pearl through it, and the grille on mine is the same colour as the car.
