Hi Guys,

Hoping someone will be able to help me out...

I've done the headgasket on my EF Fairmont Ghia and have bought a new engine. I've gone through and disconnected all the wiring looms etc and all the other stuff that needs to be disconnected.

I'm stuck at the moment - i need to unbolt the engine from the gearbox...but there's a heap of insulation where the bolts are...any easy way to get to them without having to remove the insulation or having to take the gearbox out???

Thanks guys.

Drop the rear of the box' and use long extensions to get to the top bolts. Dont forget the starter motor either. Why are you putting a new engine in if u've just blown a headgasket?

I usually prefer to leave the gearbox on the engine and pull them out as a unit.

Then when on the garage floor, remove the auto, and swap to new engine.

Then install it all back in again.

Cheers
