It was a mission but the brakes are done.
Thanks to a night on the cans on Saturday, I started a bit later than I would have liked on Sunday.   The front bleeders were completely plugged up and the slides were pretty dry. Shows what happens when you get a 'professional' to do work for you... I eventually finished it off about 11:30pm. Tried to fit the front wheel up, but discovered that the studs were about 5mm too long. The neighbours must have loved me getting the angle grinder out at a quarter to midnight!  After that, I put the tools away, torqued the wheel nuts and went for a test drive. For some reason I didn't expect a grooved surface to make a noise, but it does. It goes away though. The new pads are bedding in pretty quick. I am already noticing a marked improvement in braking. I'm gonna check the bearings tomorrow as they are setting in. Cheers, Evan.

Come and do my rear pads
 Those slotted rotors look cool! Mine took a few days to bed in and I've noticed they brake a lot better when they've warmed up, when cold is a different story...

Yeah they seem hard in theory, but in practice they are not, just gotta make sure there is no air in the lines (if bleeding, don't let the brake cylinder run dry) and bolts are torque up right with some locktite.

I finally got the front wheel bearing pre-load right and the brakes are really bedding in now. It's almost like they are working too well lol. Weird in an E-series Ford. Feels like the brakes in a small Japanese car as in there is no delay in-between applying your foot to the pedal and the pads being applied to the disc.
In short, I am pretty happy with this upgrade.

Dude someone stole your wheels!
Geez and I thought crime out my way was bad. I reckon the studs were too long because they look like EF EL discs you have on it. Is the ABS still working ok?

I did have to space the pick ups out as the were touching the tone wheel.

Have you been over or around 90km/h yet?
My abs light comes on around then, be interesting to know if yours does the same (if in fact they are actually ef/el discs which I hope they aren't) so I know for sure... Glad to hear you're liking the upgrade, slotted rotors should be mandatory on all e series!

After consultation of the DBA catalogue and the box that I threw in the bin, I have indeed got EF/EL discs. Looks like they sent me the wrong items. Should teach me to check things before installing them. It doesn't seem to effect anything at all, really. I did a brake test and it did the usual EB ABS thing and I also have driven it up to 110 km/h on the M4 and the light did not come on.
And it's not blown, see?   As an added bonus with the grippier pads, the handbrake actually holds the car on a hill!

Same thing happened to me, bought off ebay, had installed and it was too late... Least your light doesn't come on and they work so thats good! A bit off topic, did you want to borrow a centre cap for Saturday night? I haven't noticed whether you've found one yet lol
