Thanks Rick, was a good buy too. I prefer the EF/EL XR's personally, but this is what the missus has always wanted, so she's pretty happy!

Just got back from the Central Coast with the new purchase. Wifey is pretty stoked. The AU runs like a dream, but didn't take long for the mod bug to bite. She's not happy with the sound. It has a 2 1/2 cat back system, but stock headers.....so she has already requested a set of extractors
 Recommendations??? As you all know, I am not a 6 man, so feel free to offer advice on what a good combo will be  And yes Matt, wife will agree with you. I'm still happy with my E series Lane though and can't see that changing any time soon. I did have a drive on the way back from the coast though, and pretty impressed with the handling  Cheers, Mick

pacemakers sound the best, but there is a few other cheaper models out there. if you shop 2nd hand you can save up to $400 off new price

Thanks mate, I think I had paceys on the cobalt blue falcon I had which had an AU engine in it
Matt may be able to confirm or deny this??? Sorry for putting that thought in your head Matt  a memory I'm sure both of us would rather forget

All good mate , Im over it and its all water under the bridge. As far as what extarctors were on it , it was about 7 or 8 cars ago so me have no idea.

Hi mick. Looking at your pics, you seem to be missing the circle pipe part from your intake just behind the filter box. Is there a reasons for this??
Also can anyone recommend what rims would look best on one of these? Cheers |

Cheers The "doughnut" or "dog turd" is part of the air intake, but mine never had one from when I got it and it was simply capped off with a welsh plug and hose clamp. Didn't see the need to fit one and doesn't affect the performance. Rim choice is a matter of personal preference and you will always get mixed opinions and those that will like and dislike your choice. Personally, I reckon anything 5 spoke with a bit of dish looks good on the big E-Series falcons and lanes, as you have probably noticed in my choice of rims over the years. Cheers, Mick

You don't need to spend big dollars on rims either. My latest set cost me about $900 and included tyres from evilbay. The black with polished silver rims works well with the Lanes style....but that's just my opinion

Cheers guys. When I removed the "dog turd" my engine stalls??
As for the rims, or AU work falcon ute got written off, so stole the mags off that. Still ford rims and looks sweet. Will post pics when I can. |

if you remove it you will need to plug the hole. the V8's run a MAF, any air leaking in after the MAF like via the open pipe will make the car run lean and stall

Like I mentioned above mine was blocked with a correctly sized welsh plug and help in place by a hose clamp, but I also owned an 5.0L ED falcon that the previous owner capped the hole with an aerosol lid that fit nice and snug Also, you don't wanna be running AU wheels on an E-series car, they are a different offset and will need spacers to fit......and spacers are illegal and dangerous.....so just don't do it!

So an nc is a e series?? Didn't know that... Anyway, the wheels fit all good on the back, but on the front they hit the suspension arm at the top :/
May have to pull and off and leave em stock until I get enough funds. Cheers |

All good mate....good onya for having a crack at modifying the old NC! You've a lot to learn, so don't be afraid to ask questions. And yes, all Ford falcon's/Fairlanes/LTD's between 88 and 98 are known as E-series (EA, EB, ED, EF & EL) or also known as the "boxcar" series for their shape (more so the EA-ED Series) If you are searching ebay for wheels, simply type in Pre-AU and you will have a mountain of rim choices to choose from. (Pre-AU because the offset of the wheels changed from 98 with the AU model)
