I spent all day today doing a major service on a Holden VZ V6 auto wagon....so I got nothin' done....

Rained most of the day today, so, no more painting until it fvcks off.....this could be a week from the looks of it....a cyclone and a half is hangin about atm.
However, I did manage to get my Zinc Plating kit out of where I had stashed it eariler....had a quick read of the instructions. Turns out, if ya want smooth n shiney, gotta buff the bead blasted items....so thats what I did.....til my hands got all crampy......sprayed them with INOX and bagged them for later. I mixed up a tub of water based degreaser to dip them in later for a final clean prior to plating. And I stripped insulation off some electrical earthing wire I bought about 10 years ago.....I knew it would come in handy later.....  .....for connecting all the nuts, bolts, washers, etc for plating.I'm yet to work out where the hell I'm gunna set this plating kit up.....  .....space is at a premium here.

I got some painting done finally....and I still haven't set up the Plating kit yet.....but I have found a spot for doing it however.
Everything that I have painted was beadblasted and degreased prior to painting. It takes about 2 to 3 weeks for the paint to harden, and only about an hour or so for it to be not too tacky. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Also while I was at it, I finally got round to puting up a metal cupboard in my Assembly Room to put greases, lubes and glues in it....and some paints.
I bought 2 of them about 2 years ago when they were half price. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I'm using Killrust Epoxy Enamel............I do have an oven to bake them in,...but....it's not hooked up, and the spot where it's gunna go isn't built yet....
 ...........sooooo, they gotta hang up for 2 to 3 weeks so they can harden, then wrap n tag them for later installation.The hope is that when the car is ready for assembly, it's just a case of opening up the tagged n wrapped up parts and fit them.....like having a giant box of new parts, and puting it together.......thats the hope anyway.

I painted a mates rocker cover on his AUII ute....I used nearly 2 cans on it....looks good too.....I got him to sand it with 400 W&D before painting......I haven't a photo of it either.....

I had a go at plating today.....wasn't having any luck with my power supply......
I had a few little things to have a go at....they were beadblasted, then I buffed them on a wire wheel on the bench grinder.....they looked really nice after that. Then I put them in the tank, and proceded to be stuffed around with the power supply. It won't stay on the voltage and amperage settings that I set it to.... I'll have to go back to Jaycar and see WTF is going on with it.......$380 and it doesn't do what I want it to do....I am p!ssed with it, I'll tell ya. I took back the power supply today, and got another one the same.
It still does the same thing as the other one except it will do the amperage that I select, but not the voltage.....????......I set it to 14V, but it only uses 0.3 to 0.4 volts, with the 1.3A that I chose for it. Seems to be working.....I'll post some pics later when I clean up the parts I have plated.

Everything that I'm plating is turning to sh!t.....I think it was from me trying to zinc plate my cast iron brake calipers.....
I think I may have stuffed my Electrolyte, and the zinc plates too. I'm back to square 1, until I get it sorted. I ended up painting the calipers.....not a lot else I could do. I also had to get the wife's motorbike back together as well.....new tyres, handle bar grips, and plated some parts for it as well.....luckily I did those before I did the calipers.
