Hey Phil,

With your swaybar, were you able to use the factory links, or did you have to get heavy duty links?
I got my Whiteline Swaybar about 2 days ago, came with the nalothan d bushes and the grease, is this all I need to just whack it on for now and then get stronger links later?

Yeah mate you can use your factory links. My rear ones were pretty hammered so we replaced them with new ones of the same size and all. My fronts were ok but then i won the Whiteline comp a couple weeks after and got the heavy duty ones for free so got wholesale suspension to throw them on for me.

So today was the day I had been waiting for. Custom Tune time!
I headed on down to Liverpool to see Joe at Crescent Motor Sports to sort me out. We hooked up the beast and it pulled a stock run of 161rwkw and about 330NM of torque. Pretty good result I thought being un-tuned.

Joe then went to work adjusting all the different settings etc and spent alot of effort on the timing. We threw it back on and only pulled 163! I’m thinking something aint right here, so he went back and adjusted the timing some more and other parts. We ran it about 6 or so times and ended up with just under 174rwkw and almost 400NM of torque around a nice useable 3100rpm. We did get it up to the 174.4rwkw but the power and torque band wasn’t very pretty and driveability would have suffered so we reverted to our previous tune.
No matter what we tried we just couldn’t get it to give anymore power. It didn’t seem to like the same timing patterns as some of Joe’s previous tunes on a very similar car so we were both stumped on that front (probably just typical of my friggin car not playing nice lol)
I also got Joe to remove the second o2 sensor reading so no more bloody check engine light for me and we also firmed up the trans changes when it’s in tip-tronic mode only. We set it as 10% firmer to start with and it was fine if you kept the accelerator pinned while changing. If you eased off and changed gears there was some decent diff clunking going on which I wasn’t too keen on so Joe dialled it back to 5% for me which seems to be good.
It’s marginally faster than normal but not enough that it clunks real bad. We stored the 10% tune in case I ever take it to the drags so I can punch through the gears quickly.
It had started raining on the way home and I must say with all the extra torque down low traction on take off is a big problem, but very fun ;-P
As always I took pics and video’s of all my runs but below is the video of the run we actually loaded

So 2 weeks ago my diff decided to internally explode on me as I was turning into my street. Loudest fukn bang ever followed by a thudd thudd thudd constantly. My mech came around my house one night and we jacked it up and could see the inner cv joint had popped out so thought that was the issue so I drove it to his shop (about 15km away).

Over the next day or so they worked out it was in fact the diff so onto FTG Auto Salvage I went. I thought this was the perfect chance to throw in some 4.11 gears and LSD. After speaking to Chris it ended up all being too hard as the 4.11 are in the territory which runs the bigger M86 diff so to fit that in I would need to change drive and tail shafts etc and it all just got too costly (about 2k just in parts)

As mine is a XT it runs the very long 3.23 gears so I opted for a XR6 diff which at least is 3.45 ratio so it will be a little bit more spirited. Anyways I got the diff for $450 which I was pretty happy about and shipped up within 24 hours. My mech spent time over the next 2 days to rip out the old and fit in the new one. He only charged me $350 in labour which was awesome considering the car was at his shop for 2 weeks, so all up I got away with it fixed for under $1000 which I was pretty happy about.

I will be visiting Joe at CMS this Saturday as I need to get the tranny remapped to handle the new ratio as the shift points are a bit out at the moment as it thinks the gear goes longer than it really does. Speak to Joe though I got the impression its a pretty easy job and luckily I have already had it tuned so got the Xcal 3 already :-)

As always took some pics along the way :-)

New diff (so small lol)

Hey phil, your tune. That was on 98 right? Seems odd that you could only get an extra 13rwkw from dyno tune. Still nice power curve though, and 400nm torque ain't bad.

Yeah that was on BP Ultimate 98. I know I was a bit disappointed as well it didnt jump up more either but Joe tried everything and it just wouldnt take more without losing power, I am loving the torque though, 2nd gear pulls so nice!. I dont know if i need to get a retune now that the gearing is different or if just remapping the tranny is all thats needed. I will ask Joe on Saturday when I see him.

Wouldn't it just need the shift points so it doesn't redline? yeah, best to ask joe lol need mine tuned properly, not doing it until I get cams though.
