Asked this question at the very start but no one came forward, chucking it here again to see if I can find out:

I know the EL's got thicker windows - are EF windows then the same as EB? Just that I have some already tinted windows in the EB and want to know if I can chuck them in this....

Oh, and I had a closer look at the wheels today, it looks like they just have a layer of crud on them that the pressure washer wouldn't take off. I reckon some mag wheel cleaner and they will come up presentable, at least good enough until I can find/afford some new wheels.Ben ole buddy, reckon the black ones would suit :) j/k!

Cheers
RD

Hey RD. Too late on the Black Wheels there ole buddy.

As for the glass, as far as I know, the EB glass will work in the EF. You just won't have tinted quarter windows LOL. My Red EB sedan was like that.

Bummer on count one, cool on count two! :)

Rachs EB is currently like that, 4 tinted, the rest not. Might as well use them to save on the rest of the tinting. Adding "remove/replace windows" to my list now....

Yupsiree, another Kiwi. Hows the Island renaming going? :)

Thanks for the info on the windows, confirms BenJ's info (not that I didn't trust it - honestly!). Will do the window swap when I do the other door bits.

Big day starts tomorrow, kids are back in school. Rach has decided to hold my car ransom, she is driving it and says she will give it back when her Mont is ready. Now that is inspiration! I am reckoning about a week to blue slip level. Engine and trans will hopefully be out by the weekend and possibly the other one back in by the end of the weekend.

Will update as I go....

Cheers
RD

And we're under way!

Guards, bumper, headlights and indicators off. What a PITB the bumper is compared to EA-ED!!!

Engine 80% disconnected, whats under the car to go before she comes out

I have a feeling this engine has been out before. The fuel lines are both different, one has a quick connect, the other is hose clamped on.

I was amazed as to how different the EF is to the EL, especially in the engine wiring. I much prefer the EL's one big plug!

At the moment I am fighting with the driveshaft bolts, damn suckers are tight! Good news is it looks like a brand new radiator has been put in at some stage. Bad news is the power steering reservoir was empty, still power steered though so hopefully things are OK in that department. Oh, the other thing I wouldn't mind replacing is the inlet plastics with the EL version. To me EL's are alot cleaner in that area.

Oh, and that rust patch pictured before is now a hole! Damn thing went right through the outer panel. Have to consult someone who knows what they are doing in the rust removal department to fix that one :)

I also went to take the rear bumper off but yet again the EF is a PITA. The damn thing is riveted to the spare wheel depression! Obviously nothing is simple of these damn things, much prefer my boxcars!!!

Well, my hand have been clean long enough - back to it :)

FYI Boxcar sedans are also rivetted to the spare wheel well. PITA!!!

You could say that Matt, one of the advantages of being a stay at home Dad. Still have to stop to cook the dinner though :)

I might get ya to help me with the rust bit if you can, I think there may be a bit of welding involved somewhere along the line. Will give ya a yell when I know more.

Cheers
RD

And where off! Looking good mate, RE the fuel lines, mine are the same with 1 hose clamp and one quick connect. I just thought it was like that so you dont put them on the wrong way lol.

Ah, so the EF's are like that! Bugger me, the ED had two hose clamps, the EL had two disconnects. The EF really was the ugly sister wasn't it!

So Josh, how did you disconnect the lines when you pulled the engine, at those joints or from under the manifold?

Cheers

At the joints mate, to hard to get under the BBM

But put a rag over the quick connect when you release it. theres pressure in there, unless you like that taste of unleaded.
