Nah, an EL has two quick release disconnects instead of just one. The lines are pretty much the same as in staggered, but the disconnects are there. Bloody simple to pop off. Not looking forward to the hose clamped one on this EF though

Hose clamp should be alright, I was just asking because Im intending to buy another VCT engine for my ED so I can use it as a work horse. $650 is a cheap low kay engine man. By the sounds of it ill just have to cut the fuel lines and use 2 hose clamps on the ED.

I think he also flared the lines a little to give the fuel line something to seal against. On my ED I stole the EL's complete fuel line from back to front

Yeah I might just stick with the ED lines, as I dont want to have to do to much work now

When we put the EL Engine in the EB, we had to make up some joiners using small lengths of the metal fuel line and some fuel hose to reach the boxcar body fuel lines.
No flaring either. Just did it up tight LOL. BenJ

Not much more done today so no piccies.
Finally got the damn driveshaft bolts out - I was wrong about the engine being out at some stage. I reckon these bolts have been in there since 1996! Then I lost my multigrips so couldn't get the last water hose under the BBM off, replacement now acquired. Had fuel pissing all over me when I dropped the fuel lines. And finally, found out that the LH engine mount nut doesn't come all the way off because of the coil packs. I am beginning to hate EF's already! So with darkness setting in sooner and me in town tomorrow for some of the day I doubt if the engine will come out this side of Saturday. If I get back from town early enough I'll drop the rear bumper off and replace the beaver panel. Cheers RD

Cheers RD When I did mine I left the nut on there and took the bolt out that goes through the mount and the body, basically you take the whole engine mount out with the engine. So much easier mate Josh |

So much easier mate Josh I did that with my ED originally (as well as Rachs EB) and hated it. PITB getting the hole just right. When I pulled and dropped the EL engine I did the single nut and it was so much easier. This one just needs the engine lifted about 1cm to get it off. Easy to remember when taking it out, easy to forget putting it back in Cheers RD

I have had both EA-ED series mounts be a total pain. Twice now I have had to jiggle the engine on the crane to get one or other side in with the over body method. Even had to take a mount off and put it on the body first! I just love the EL (and maybe the EF) way of dropping over the top of one single bolt

I agree with you, its just that dam coil pack location lol. I was going to relocate it but had no time over easter. It would be handy to have the coil pack easily accessible for easy change over.

I've been thinking the same thing. Bad enough with just one coil and trying to access it, never mind 3 of them!

Bit of progress today
Engine is out and an oily hole is left. Lotsa cleaning to be done in here......  And the oily thing that came out of the oily hole  And finally, the rust hole that resulted from a little digging  EVL098 will be popping over next weekend to weld in a replacement plate in to fix this. I'll be cutting out this bit and replacing it with a non-rusted bit from my spare EL. Bit of grinding, some paint and it will look like new Over the coming week I will strip the old engine and build up the other engine I have. Bought a whole bunch of gaskets & seals yesterday to fit, still need a sump & rocker cover gasket/seal though. AutoPro tried to sell me a cork sump gasket so I need to grab the proper one for an EF/EL, Bursons should be able to provide I should think. I also picked up the needed wheel bearings to go in once the back end is back on the ground. Cheers RD
