they say all aux shafts are the same in dizzy engines ie EA, EB, ED, EL my engine is EB and i converted to EL (dizzy engine)

UPDATE:

I am now looking for a second hand motor to chuck in my car till i get time and decent $$ to re-bore and so-on a new block

any1 know of 1 or somewhere i can get 1 in vic??

it might just be that the block is now stuffed..
just out of curiosity what oil were you running in it?
if the oil is quite thick i guess it could put extra load on the pump being a high volume one? which puts more load on the dizzy gear but i cant see that killing the shaft in 2 hours..
do you have any pics of the first shaft that failed?
it might show some signs of wear on the journal surfaces confirming block damage?

oil was 10w 40
im not at home atm but will get pics up but mine didnt sheer like urs it took small chunks out of some of the gear

i think this may be my best option as my engine is bored out and decked and the money saved on boring and honing can be possibly spent on doing this

yeah it is possible to fit a bearing but I imagine that wont be cheap...

also i thought AU's used 10W30...saw it in the spares dept today at binks ford in footscray....jeez what dodgy place

i cant see how even if i put water in there an auxillary shaft would go in 2 hours, today i saw a second hand motor running and seems very good for $450

Get a wreck from jolly's I bought a 100,000k AU2 one for $117

hell, you could buy a complete EF for $450

you HAVE to remove it yourself.


Pick a car in the yard, go by K's. remove (use their crane) Purchase *they'll provide you a receipt with the engine number on it*

An item that's off the shelf is $500 and maybe cheaper if you give them a c/o.
