ok ive been working very hard recently, and its time for an update.

1st off is a mod i did ages ago, and always gets people asking questions.

ELECTROLUMINESCENT CLUSTER

i did the age old blue l.e.d. change to the dash and tbh i thought they sucked, some parts Came up well but otheres didnt notibly the area around 110kph mark was basicly black.

So while cruising ebay a bit over a year ago, i came across this dash that looked WAY differant to anything any other falcon owner had in the club, so i jumped at it.

Basicly it doent have any globes, it is just some plastic with some gel or somthing inside that reacts to electric current, via a transormer box that is jamed in behind the cluster. (who sees the epic electronics jargon skills i have?)

NOTE: Before anyone asks, and many have, i can not find if these are still made, as far as i know only a few were sold so the stopped making them, and these ones are def not for sale, i like them heaps.

Anyway pics worth 1000 words.

NEXT UPDATE on my interior update should be up late tonight.

yeah i'll probably be sitting talking crap at the fordmods tent, come find me to have a chat :)

INSIDE TRANSFORMATION + lead up to AFD

As seen above i did the top half of my dash and door trims in satin black.

Recently ive wanted to update the whole interior and MANY many ideas were thrown around with mates as what to do, such as spraying more black, getting a LTD/Fairlane interior etc etc.

After seeing another thread on FM about these fabled "ebay leather covers" and seeing that the pics not only turned out well but the owner was happy, my mind was set, why have 10+ year old leather?. A few emails were fired back and forth from Ultimate Auto Trim and myself about details, styles, price, and timeline, and the order was placed, "HOPEFULLY" they should be here this week, as they are tring to help me get the interior done before All Ford Day.

Enter changing EVERYTHING to satin black in the car.

The paint used is one i got from Supercheapauto called "vynal and plastic dye", i will note that if spraying plastics do also get a "plastic adhesion primer" even then some wear prone areas might require redoing from time to time such as the door handles.

I must tell you that if your thinking of doing the WHOLE interior you must prepare yourself, as there is ALOT of grey stuff to

turn black, actualy a staggering amount of grey.

I wont give step by steps in here, but ill give some pointers.

-Store all screws in an order you will remeber them jam them into a cardboard box, so you can paint them, nothing looks more pox than a black interior with grey screw head all over the place.
-All screws that are not needing to be painted, screw back into the holes they came from so you dont loose them.
-Take your time puling stuff apart, as a many trips to the wreackers due to broken bits of trim will eat $$$
-A good result is all in the preperation, spend some time, making everything is masked, or dissasembled in such a way as to avoid overspray.
-After you put to all together wipe everything down, and see if tehre are any colour mismatch's and then mask off any "non black areas" and give a light spray to blend the coulours together.

some pics to give an update :
$40 from a pick-a-part

trims painted, and the front bar without clear yet.

im working non stop atm so updates should be plentyfull, starting to stress that the leather wont rock up before friday, fingers crossed.

Get a job Marc...HAHAHAHA

Nah man looking good. I was hoping to get a day off this week to work on the car, but at this rate I'll be paid over time and have a ordinary looking EL by the time AFD comes along.

BTW with your interior vinyl spray...how does it stick and does it scratch off? I always wanted my interior to be black...rather then grey. My Momo steering wheel is black...and everything else is grey.

phong =P~

Hmmm, I'm using the new style of malwood pin and have developed a bit of a squeak as of late. I'll go have a looksee thanks to this thread. That EL cluster is f**k SICK as well. Your car looks (and by the sounds of it goes) awesome, makes me wish I wasn't so lazy haha. Your engine bay looks so clean, did you respray the airbox and such as well?

cheers guys,

phong, wheres as ill be absolutly broke with a clean car :P, i found that that the paint sticks very well, but on the plastics you do need a plastic primer, and even then things like the door handles can scratch from repeated use with rings etc.

gt-01; see ya there

Fetus pie; always good to keep an eye on the pedal box, because sadly its a case of when not if, the airbox etc was actually dirty in that pic, today i cleaned it really well and threw a coat of clear on it. And yeah it goes alright :P

i'll throw up another update soon as ive been very busy with some polynisian green today
