Manual is bliss! before i can really drive it i need to replace the bearing at the bottom of my steering column :/ have no idea how to go about doing that.

I tried , blasted broke two drill bits trying to get the ignition barrel off, just going to drop mine in at a garage in town and be done with it.

nah they are just roh's

aparently they arent all that tight to get out

Problemos - RUST nagdamit!
- Heavy as anything steering, I have a feeling i need to bleed the system, I can remember
doing something to that effect when i replaced the power steering pump when i got
the beast.
-Replace alternator, well i have a feeling that's my problem. After baout ten minutes give
or take the battery light illuminates on the dash, the car will then lack the juice to start
and at low rpm die!

Also yeah bryl40 it was rather easy, the ( I presumed rivets) holding the igniton barrel on were actually bolts, cold chisel and a hammer and anti clockwise is the key! so i sorted my stuffed steering column without spending a cent

Swapped the alternator form the ED into the EA, running percy as
Both Mitsubishi units. The bearing in my steering column is/was exceptionally weird.
Swapped the columns around, and yes guys was rather easy actually, bolts holding on ignition barrel just need to be spun around with a punch/col chisel etc. Anyway i was still having the same issue, incredibly hard/jerky steering, but after 2 days of driving it just went away and hasn't come back much to my relief lol.

Local wrecker wanted 150 bucks for a bear column with good bearings. :/

One last note going for wof 2moro, cross my fingers hope to die she'll pass!

Well it's been a while, the t5 i put in that had done 350000 ks is still going strong I'm loving it!
Fitted a new exhaust today, not performance or anything just noticed the one on the ED is incredibly fresh! Not to mention mine did look pretty poked

Hey guys I've been running through some ideas lately.
My understanding of Borgwarner differentials to be precise.
The EAs and some EBs all have 75 series Borgwarners and all other e series have the 78 series with 28 spline axles and 4 pinion differentials while their predecessors the 75's only being a 25 spline and 2 pinion.

I've been doing some reading on just how clutch cones work and how seemingly easy it is to change the crown and pinion gears (i'll give it a go anyway).

Well what i want to know is, can you buy brand new centers for these diffs? both the 75s and 78 series? LSD centers btw And can you fit a lsd center into a non lsd carrier? providing there both from/for the same series housings?

I'm asking these questions because I have a 78 series open diff out of the ED and I would rather invest in a true lsd instead of a spool or locker and change the gears at the same time. It's just that i've had no luck in searching for either of these parts :/

Well I answered my own questions and bookmarked about 25 sumin page son google for future reference. Anyway ripped apart one of the bw75 lsds i've got lieing around and boy are those posi cones gone! No clearance at all you'll see in the photos.

But the plans are to go find a Bw78 lsd and rebuild that at some point. They look fairly simple (trying not to sound C**k i'll probably end up in the deepend).

Hard to see in the photos but there should be plenty of clearance in between the cone and the carrier here there is nothing :/
