Too noisy for a family ride mate.

We want to be able to hear our cars, not be deafened by them.

Cheers

my fairlane only has 1 muffler, altho it could be quieter due to the fact its the same size as the large factory one. but if you have a sports one it could possibly be too loud.

ben, i wish i heard your exhaust while you were up here as im looking at the same one for my wagon but undecided whether to go 1 muffler or 1 muffler and 1 resinator

yeah i wasn't being too serious bout the one muffler lol
one large and one small with 2.5" is def a nice note over standard without being overly loud.
i have one magnaflow muffler and one resonator (no cat) and its too loud.
but getting rid of the cat mad it a fair bit louder, so i think the one reso one muffler combo is quite good if your after a bit of a note

My exaust is the Redback catback 2.5" system with one main muffler and a rear resinator.

With my windows down I can hear the car at idle, and when driving at city and highway speeds, the exhaust tone and volume is easily audible but not annoying.

If the windows are up you can hear the exhaust, but it is very quiet in the car, and you can easily have a normal conversation with the other passengers.

I have been in a couple of cars with only one muffler, and we had to raise our voices to talk to each other, and it was quite loud.

maybe its the added sound protection they put in the fairlanes but i never had that issue, the one thing i love about the wagon is its whisper quiet, when i plant the foot all you hear is raw motor, and it turns heads more then a loud exhaust believe it or not..

in the wagon im probably only removing 1 resonator and leaving the rest the 2.25 exhaust..

while we are on the talk of this, what one is better to remove? the front or rear resonator to get a nice note? it would be front wouldn't it?

ive experimented with exhausts a bit (sorry to hijack your thread btw liam lol)
and i removed the rear muffler from a stock system and fitted a pod and it sounded quite nice when giving it some
it was only a lil more beefy than stock at idle and cruising but when you floored it you could hear it more and it was as you said, more of an engine noise than just exhaust.

ive even had an exhaust with stock big centre muffler and a middle resonator inplace of the smaller centre muffler, with no rear muffler and that was a lil louder again but nothing crazy.
just sounded quite nice.

both of those were with cat installed though.

dunno mate, i fitted 6" speakers that slot straight in the speaker holes, just had to drill new mounting holes, as the original speakers had 3 screws and my new Kenwoods have 4.

good luck mate!

spud.

huggie, i paid $80 for mine from Ronza on the forum here -- bargain considering they're $300 new on fleabay! (even more of a bargain at $50!)

did u have troubles fitting yours with the bottom hooks not locating all the way in the corner, stopping the parcel shelf pushing all the way in??

i had this trouble today and ended up cutting little notches out the back end of the shelf where the blind hooks are, to allow the shelf to push all the way in.

cheers,
spud
