Interesting Ea there mate! 5 spd V8 boxes are not the easiest of things to come by, so the setup you have doesn't surprise me. I think I'd rather go that way than a v8 auto.

ok been having issue's my alternator,well i thought it was anyway but its a short in the headlight/dash circult somewhere so the fun begins now trying to sort it before next sunday for the drive home from sydney....

I noticed that 1st seemed a lot longer in my Xr8 compared to my Ghia, the 8 would be interesting with a shorter 1st, but not too short, because if you have lots of power & short 1st gear, all you will get it tyre smoke lol.

there is a bit of difference in the ratios..
here is a list of the ratios, if you didnt have them already.. v8 t5 1st=2.95 2nd=1.94 3rd=1.34 4th=1 5th=0.73 eb2-el t5 1st=3.25 2nd=1.99 3rd=1.29 4th=1 5th=0.72 and ea t5 1st=3.5 2nd=2.14 3rd=1.39 4th=1 5th=0.78 |

Extractors & thermo's are a great start for more power. Probably next cheap power mod is under drives. My Xr8 has extractors & big exhaust on it. No thermo fans yet, will probably convert it once it's on the road. My g/f's red Xr8 has thermo's, but were damaged by the accident, i will replace them when it's time to get it on the road. They do make a good improvement.

Cheers ToranaGuy Yeah i've got a set of advance brand extractors last week and will get some thermo's very soon.Will find out about some under drives but probly get gt40's and explorer intake first for my spare motor im building... phill |

A 3.45 diff would be a bit of a waste if it wasn't a lsd. My wagon used to spin too easy on a 3.27 single spinner. Second and third were the best though, geez I miss that box sometimes, very jealous hehehe.
