Have managed to fix the problem. Turns out it was a mixture of blocked fuel filter and faulty leads. The lead running from the ignition coil to the dizzy was having a spit, as were the other leads before i killed 3 in a week. Still have a slight issue at higher rpm and in the torque band. Am cleaning the injectors and rail this sunday with my airgun. Anybody have any advice with the cleaning of injectors and rail?

Good job and hope you sort those issues out.

Thanks mate. Everyone knows how hard it is to finish a project. But im a little slower due to funds at the moment. Gotta get the engine sorted before i can finish the interior and give it a nice respray and fix the bodywork up.
Oh and i picked up a trip computer today for $50. Will be fitting this sunday.
Also managed to order a set of xr indicators/parkers for $100 for a set!! Brand new through a mate who is a mechanic.

Cheers
Sam

Not my thing, but those amps do look pretty cool up on the parcel shelf with the speakers.

Overall I like your interior, think it's nice work & the two tone looks the goods, but I would have picked leather & vinyl for the trim job. The parcel shelf looks good too, with the amps up there like that. I hope your back window is tinted to help hide them away from scum bags!

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

Another update to fill the space between years - apparently.
Anyway... The car. Yes the car is getting closer to my goal.
I spoke of a misfire issue i had that was fixed by replacing some bits and pieces.
I have since installed a wade 1673 cam and J3 chip from TI Performance and the issue has come back... Only worse... Ehhhhh...
Anyway, if someone has a similar issue or has heard of this sort of thing could you please help a brother out! It's been quite annoying for the past 4 MONTHS!!!
The car on a whole, however, is a lot nicer on a whole from cleaning up everything and replacing some engine bits and pieces.
Here is the list of what i have replaced in search of the problem:
Dizzy cap
Dizzy rotor
Leads
Map sensor
All vacuum lines
Cleaned tps
Cleaned injectors
Cleaned fuel rail
New fuel filter

Hopefully someone has some sort of idea about this mystery.
Sorry for the huge post all you lazy bastards who cant be stuffed reading. Pictures next time im on a computer.

Cheers

Sam

Noone has any idea of what the issue could be?
I have also had a fiddle with base timing.
When i checked it before i set it, it was at about 18 degrees advance.
After fiddling with it i found:
0 deg - still problem but feels slightly different, lost low down torque
6 deg - still problem but a lot less obvious, misses lightly starting at around 4250rpm
10 deg - still problem, slightly better than 6 deg.
14 deg - still problem, almost as bad as 18 deg
-5 deg - very low on torque and almost no power.
-10 deg - barely runs.

I used a timing gun to set it and test drove it after each change to assess the change.
Is there anybody in the PARRAMATTA AREA that may be able to make room in their schedule to assist? Or know of some people who can definatley FIX my problem. Ive been to a couple of people and they just replace parts and tell me its fine.
Im going to post this in the 6 cyl forum as well.

Cheers

Sam

Went down to bursons today and picked up a clutch cable. Boy did that do wonders. My clutch before felt like you were pushing on a f**k brick!! Now its softer and almost how i want it. Also got quoted on an rpm heavy duty clutch kit for $375. Who uses rpm clutches? Are they good?
Also got quoted by mal wood for a rebuild kit and all synchros. Looks like its gonna cost about $500 rebuilding my gearbox DIY.

Have also purchased a proton jumbuck as a cheap runaround. $2800 with 8 months rego. Bit of a bomb fagmobile but serves its purpose well. No mods on this thing. Just saves me fuel money so i can spend more on the ol girl...

Will chuck up a few photos of the uterus when i grab some.

Cheers

Sam
