nice au mate!!!
there are a few people that diss the au but once you drive a good one you realise they drive so much nicer than the e series.. thats why i drive my mrs au more than my e series.. |

Regarding the ride height and tyre/rim size combo vs comfort thing, i think both options would offset each other so would be hard to say for sure.
For practicality and looks i think 17's and "Low" springs would be the best compromise. Not too high or too low, and would look heaps better with 17's rather than the small 16's. I saw an AU Ghia the other day, same colour as your's, slightly lowered with those Series 1 AU Tickford 17" rims and i must say it did look quite nice. However, I would be curious to know what it would be like with "Superlows" all round and 17's, especially with the AU being a bit more of a smoother car. I reckon a good set of short stoke struts/shocks and decent progressive rate springs (like Dobinson springs) would still be fairly comfortable considering the height and would look and handle great

Try loosening the handbrake off slightly at the lever, they have gay handbrakes like BAs. Could be the noise, ours does it intermittently after we adjusted the handbrake, I probably wound it up slightly too tight. Didn't work at all before that though.
Expect it to use a bit more fuel than the EF, the VCT's are thirsty.We don't even get to 500kms with ours before it starts beeping. I don't drive it THAT psychotically either. Does it have 3.45 LSD? Please mod it. |

Alfy hit the nail on the head: Only AUII Fairmont and Fairmont Ghia came from the factory with the orange indicators in the headlights. An aesthetic consideration? My smashed AU2 ghia has the orange bits as well.
Good pickup. These cars are great. If mine wasnt so damaged I'd love it as a daily. |

Converted cars are never really the same though.
 Im not putting in the climate dash + stuff either. Too much hassle. |
