I bought one 3-4 years ago, same colour, with the same damage, manual too, with 140k, for $1200 from auction.

The EL XR bumper is no longer available either.

If you want to keep it, you'll have to do some sweet talking with the assessor I'd say.

Sorry to see, they are a nice car!

Agree with you ash. You might have to do a cash deal with the insurance which may work out ok to keep it if the bar is not repairable. Looks like you might get luck with just the bonnet and blinker?? My biggest concern with my Xr. I always park facing walls or front first as I know how hard and expensive it can be for the front end. ALWAYS on the look out for cheap
Xr fronts as spares. Good luck mate.

Ouch I just zoomed in on the piks from my phone. More damage then I initially though!

Its very scary to see how little damage has to be done now days for them to look at writing them off.
Its sucks mate and I really hope you can keep the XR. They are a beautiful car.
Seeing this most certainly doesnt make sleep any easier when there is one in the driveway.

Nice to read that it is going to be repaired! That's part of the reason I have a reasonable figure for the agreed value on my EB Ghia. Will take a lot of damage to "write it off" so to speak.

Having said that, a lot of places will just write a car of this age off because they can't be bothered chasing a few parts to fix it, even tho it's rather fixable & not all that expensive in comparison to replacing it with another good one.

I hope you are satisfied with the repair job done!

Cheers

What a spin out that my brother's father inlaws EF had the exact same hit 2 weeks ago but more bumper damage. His quote come to $3500.00 and surprised it didn't take much to cause that much damage.

Are you going through preferred repairer or insurance is taking care of it?

Make sure they put your battery on a charger too, I had my car in the panel shop late last year, they ended up having the car for a month & stuffed the battery! They wouldn't replace it either.

Cheers

In my experience, giving the repairer parts was nothing but a nightmare! The door got used, the front guard ended up on their apprentices car & not mine, other parts I can't be sure what happened with them. In regards to the guard, this I know for a fact (vin number sticker!) but won't name the place, and I didn't get compensated for the parts I supplied, from either the workshop or my insurance company. At trade prices it was about $400 of bits I supplied too. I guess at least I don't have those "spares" hanging around my place cluttering it up more than it already is.

Never again will I do that, they can spend their time hunting & collecting for bits & send the insurance the bill, unless I sell them the bits & they then on-charge the insurance.

I hope you have a much better experience with that than I did!

Cheers

^ yeh i hope so. I will be checking dont you worry bout that.

As far as the person at fault, he finally made a claim so i get my hire car fully redeemed.

i sent him a sms yest saying that AAMI will sue to get the $3900 for my car repairs off him and that i have to report it to the police. Thats what they said will happen and what i should do to help the situation, it worked.

Nice work! Keep ontop of it, and you should get a good outcome.

I got too busy with work to be able to chase the panel shop every day about my car, so they played on that & f**k around as much as they could.....

Cheers

If u want better lights u should give hid's a go , I have 6000k and they are fantastic. A kit only costs
$200 and they are perfect for the xr6 headlight cos it has the projector.

The base of my seat is broken Also. There are cap head screws holding the base to the rails and they have been ripped out , so u will need a new base it will have to be a xr6 base otherwise the patterns will be different and look odd lol

I'd say that's what's wrong with your seat if the base is wobbly
