no updates really worked all week im hoping the other bloke shows up next week so i can go and get all the bits for the ute.

i actually had thoughts of selling it, but not now been in the shed since the weekend i havent even been out to the shed :P i look forward to taking it for a drive tomorrow.

plans are to first get all the bits mentioned (shocks, rotors, tyres, few bits from wreckers etc) and fit it all up then.

tint windows (i beleive we have some tint in the shed :D )
paint the tray (using a spray gun)
re do bumper and grill as im not happy with the finish and the bumper has cracked around the fiber glass where i filled in the repeater holes.
respray mirrors as they have a few marks on them.
extractors
au console
get a cable for the B&M shifter and fix thread for the handle
dye the interior black and get the sound system up to scratch.
possbly looking at doing something with the bonnet (scoop, buldge, XB scoops)
also going to get some gauge cups and put the 2 gauges outside the car like ive been going to do and not do for the past month :P

its a long list  dont expect it done tomorrow but the dearest thing on that list would probably be the extractors.

took the ute out for a drive today then all of a sudden could smell fuel so i pulled over and had a look for any leaks found out the rubber seal on the cap is stuffed and petrol was escaping down the side of the car  so i got to a servo cleaned the fuel off the car and got a temporary cap for $1.50, when i got home i put the old twist style cap back on.

also a few days ago i spotted an XF sedan near my house for $800 it looked to be in pretty good condition but i thought nothing of it :P but now curiosity has got the better off me and tomorrow im going to go and have a look at it  hopefully its not as good as it looks as it could end up in the driveway

also a pic of the ute on the side of the road.

today i decided to get off my a** and get the ute off the ground and pull the wheels off so i know what i need to order.

rear pads bugger all left, front pads have plenty of meat left maybe get the front rotors machined for now reason being i definately need rear shocks unsure on fronts i have a $1,000 budget set thats including getting paint and 2 tyres to :P we will see what happens in the next day or so.

some snaps

i notice the ute has been leaning to the right a little more lately

so up she goes

hopefully i wake up in the morning and remember i took the wheels off
and this really got my attention

tomorrow im getting the new tyres 235's (retreads) $80 each. ill put the wheels back on the car untill saturday where its going to my bother inlaws work where we are going to:

fit new rear shocks
test front shocks
machine rotors (hopefully) and new rear pads

now due to needing shocks i have to pass on slotted rotors, as a big part of the budget was for a spray gun, primer, paint and clear. seeing how the back wheels are off i may try bash those wheel arches abit straighter

Hmm, looks interesting..

Looks from the pic like it's just come unbolted. I guess with the blocks the shock would still be fairly extended. Maybe the nut was loose and it came out? On a corner maybe?

brave man using retreads, i would never use them....seem them unpeel and do plenty of damage.

the old lady had some on the cruiser and they failed, tearing off the bumper and wheel flares, while scratching the paint nicely too.

few other minor things got done today apart from washing the ute i also removed the skull from the rocker cover, and also took the boot off the B&M shifter and tested it in the console with the standard shifter :P need to make up a proper surround for it but it should look good when finished.

Image
yes thats a standard t bar surround with a large section removed then grineded down on the bench grinder

Image
by the way the car is in neutral in that photo. i will look into something to make a surround next week.

ive decided to wait on painting that will be happening late december early january, so next week the ute should have extractors :D
