17 inch tyres will definitely be cheaper here, I'm sure they are cheap over there too but you still have to freight them.

15's I think would suit your car best. I think the 15's on my 69 suit the car quite good. I've seen the same rims on other 69's in 17's and they look good too but with the 15's you can squeeze some big rubber under there.

Yeah I Liked the look of the wheels I tried on the XB on Friday. The rubber was just too big lol.

Ash wrote:
While you're emailing them, ask for some prices on 15 inch tyres (remember it is tires to them  ). They can be hard to find here in Aus. Shouldn't be too much extra to freight the tyres on the rims if they'll do it that way.

I was thinking of getting tyres here and getting blue walls painted on them. should match my paint.

Ash wrote:
Not sure on back spacing though for the XB. I know pre-au rims fit my Mustangs. But I don't know the back spacing. Pretty sure I've got 9 inch rims on the rear of my 69 and due to the extra width, I think the back spacing is specific to suit that rim on my car so I couldn't measure mine to tell you they'd fit yours.

Its ok, 7's with wide rubber will look awesome.

Those rims you like are similar to mine too :D

Yeah they look great, same as the ones I tried on Friday. Even better polished, im almost happy the wheels I looked at did not fit.

Cheers

What about a red wall?

Aquajets? ;)

There is a mob down here called Show wheels that do rims for classics, would be worth giving them a call & asking about the sizing.

There is also a mob that imports tyres for veteran, vintage & classic car's in the city of Melbourne too, you might be able to find the size your after there.

Cheers

Hi boring update today guys.

I got some original 15 x 7 globes about a week ago cheep. cheeper than the set from that guy who sent me a pm.

I got a quote for postage for the wheels off Ebay, $100 a wheel  so I gave that idea the flick.

Image

Paint was a bit flaky so I have stripped them in preperation for a new paint job.

Image

Thinking I might paint them another colour other than black.

Nothing else to report.

cheers

Who knows lol. I only got 3 out of 4 hubcaps, so I need to find a new set of those. I have started stoning down any ugly casting marks in the rims. tomorrow I will get some wet and dry sand paper, so I can start re polishing the polished bits. Then I just need to get some colour and clear. I will post up some pics as I progress.

Cheers

Im not sure if you can just have some parts of the rims powder coated and others not?

None the less I will paint them myself. I need the practice, as I will do my own respray oneday.

Cheers

yeah you can powder coat whatever you want and leave whatever you want natural as they use this special tape type stuff to stop the powder coat sticking to whatever you don't what powder coated.

just something for you to think about

Polishing Sucks!

So I have been doing little by little, and I have the first wheel done.

Today I picked up a set of centre caps for the wheels.

Now I just need to polish the other 3 and find the right tyres for them.

Cheers
