hi there - huge ask im sure, but i wanna track down a set of factory rims to suit an FD LTD (1984)

condtion doesnt have to be perfect, although good condition is of course a bonus, as i will get them repaired at some stage in the future.

if you can help out with a set of 5 or even 1 or 2, please let me know.

PS - any other parts to suit an FD LTD would also be greatly appreciated, as i am doing a ground up resto on my beloved

cheers

Do you seriously want to go with those rims?
Are you aware that they're metric and tyres cost a packet for them?
They're not 14 or 15 inch, i can't remember exactly how many mm they are but most piss them off because tyres are hard to find, and when you do they cost a small fortune.
I'm just going off memory from 15 to 20 years ago.

yeah unfort. im gunna go with the factory fitment items, coz i want my beloved to look like she just rolled off the factory/showroom floor - be-it 23years late.

if they are unusual size, then il shall have to go with that unfort, it will add to the 'stock' look of the car.

i scored off ebay (good old ebay) a FD LTD Sales Brochure, and man, they look friggin sweet as on the FD with them rims.

cheers

hubby's VZ Calais is the only car in australia that runs a particular size tire - but they are a production tyre so therefore a wait on them.
i understand that as the FD isnt exactly.. a spring chicken, i will have to wait for the tyres to fit it. which is no hassle really

yeah a lot of people didnt seem to like them.. which is going to make getting hold of 'new' ones even harder..
by looking at the FD LTD rims, you can see where the NA Fairlanes got thier 'inspiration' from in regards to styling - tho i was never a fan of them rims to be honest.

cheers for the linky, but the arnt the ones that i am after,
they look a lot like the rims that went onto the NA / DA fairlanes and LTD's to me, so not the type that i am after
(one of my old ZL's used to have a set in rather sad condition, never really thought that they suited the car to be honest... )

iv been keeping a keen eye on ebay, the other day, i scored a zk/fd premium sound system graphic equaliser for what i thought a pretty cheap price.

A particular point of interest regarding those wheels....One model Ford Granada in the UK used almost identical wheels as those on the FD LTD.

Don't bid until the last minute, then slap the highest that you're willing to pay, then if you lose you wont be spewing.

iv set a modest bid max on it allready, people are trying to inch up to see what my max is and are almost chickening out when they see that they arnt even getting anywhere on it!

and no - no sniping on my wheels, they will help to complete the car :P
*pouts*

cheers

ps - i wasnt aware that the UK Granada (spelling?) used similar / same rims, something to keep in mind in case i miss out on these ones....

that rim and tyre pic looks familiar :P

just noticed that the granada has a very similar side profile of the XD / XE, but trimmed down somewhat.
