Some time ago I thought someone was selling the smartlock key fobs pretty cheap - has anyone got some and how much are you asking? There are 3 fords in the family that use them and we would also like a couple of spares. New ones prefered.

Need to be suitable for ED's and AU (I assume they are the same keyfob).

Also I read something about the limit of 4 keys coded to the ignition of my AU, does this go the same for the remotes? ie, if I have one and there are 3 others somewhere (ie previous owners), then I can't program the 5th fob, or is it only relating to the keys...

While we are on the subject, whats the difference between smartlock and smartshield?

Ta,

when you relearn a set of key fobs to the car (ignition on, boot release three times well for ED atleast) it will only work with the first 4 remotes, so there could have been a million remotes previosly coded to your car (but only the four you learnt to your car will work)

i just got a fang dangled car alarm that makes my old key fobs evil alarm setting off devices of doom, so if someone (ie waggin) can decide on an OK sounding price ill sell you my two remotes

I've been looking around for some of these remotes (found a couple, but at $50 or so I still think its pretty expensive for used ones, even if Ford are $80 or something) and I came across one supposedly for an AU - but its more streamline, looks like its got a blue and a red and 2 grey buttons on it - is that a proper AU remote? My existing one looks the same as the EB/EF remote I had - anyone?

Is the au2 & 3 what they call Smartshield?

$30 is a pretty good deal, but realistically is all the SHOULD go for on ebay. Most of the time ebay is no better than tracking down a good retail deal, dont you think. I sell a bit on there, but rarely buy.
