cause I think some dealers still require vin numbers before they sell chrome pieces and what not to you.

i would post mine up but don't own a fairmont or a ef...

reason they ask for the vin is cause you end with multiple selects regarding clolours and so on so forth! Some parts in some cars there can be up to 10 differences without a vin! Mainly for accuracy!
