thanks for the heads up.

i rang the phone place and they suggested about $100 for a nokia pre paid thats absolutely basic.

just been on ebay and checked it out, can get a new body for it for around $15 and a screen for $75 as you said.

they dont seem like the best quality phones, definately not as indestructible as the old 3310 that i had for about 5 years!! but i still reckon its worth fixing up, i only have it till december when the plan runs out!

fitting is easy as

i pulled mine apart earlier today to see if i could do it or not. i needed some really specialised tools to do it though... i used... um... a pocket knife!!

To pry the face offyou need to start at the top of the slide and get the knife (or screwdriver or what ever you want really) under the face. there is two layers of "face" so make sure you get both. (I took mine off one at a time cause it was shagged anyway, getting a new one of them too)

the screen is held in with a small aluminium bracket. it has four clips on the outside that you can see easily, but there is four little ones under the black plastic. easiest way to get them out i found was to slide the knife between the screen and the slide itself (will make sense when you pull it apart)

once you get the little aluminium bracket out, the screen will fall out. its connected to the rest of the phone from under the button pad. be gentle with it and pry the buttons up, they will unplug on their own.

then you simply unplug the screen connector. done

and yes, i will definitely let you know how the quality was when it arrives

Sorry to bump an old topic.

GLi, i meant to jump on here the other day. the new screen arrived the other week. took all of 2 minutes to fit and the quality is just as good as the original, or so it seems anyway.

just thought i would give you the heads up on that one anyway
