hey guys, as iv posted on here before (well the probs i had with it neways)
i has an 1987 ZL Fairlane - which i paid 500 bucks for in August 05..

my doing stuff on it died coz of work not paying me much monies, but now that i have a new job, i can throw the money at it that it needs...

the question tho, should i bother with doing it, or just get rid of it and wait for a better one to come along.

when i brought it, i never intended it to be a get it rwd and mod'd str8 away kinda thing, just a gradule project (which pisses off my mother..)

see my links below for pics.. opinions / thought / ideas appreciated.

Well, if the paints in good nick (which from the photos it looks like it is) id say go for it, whats it like mechanical wise (gearbox and diff mostly) whats the interior like and its there any rust (which id say there will be)

just remember doing up ANY car is going to get expensive REALLY fast, and its money your going to NEVER see again (or maybe 40 years down the track).

i want to keep it - always had a soft spot for the ZL's (even tho my first fairlane was a ZK)

interior is in pretty good condition really, a few little tears here and there - usual dirt and stuff on the seats, and its got an electric sunroof too ! :D

it only has a small amount of rust in it - small spots in the c pillars, and thats pretty much it.

when i brought the car, the guy sed that he'd had the head off it, and had some work done to it - cleaned it up or somthing changed valve seals etc.
trans is in a lil bad condition - takes a while to pick up reverse, tho that could be due to a slight lack of tranny fluid! lol

strangely, powersteering does not leak! which i find rather unusual for a zl..

i know cars are expensive - iv sunk heaps into them in the past and got back nothing on them...

i think i will keep it :)

(needs a new starter motor tho, so i can start the damn thing!! the wreckers 35dollar special is just as bad as the one i pulled out....)

they are worth money to the right person - if ya want a ZL Fairlane bad, you will pretty much pay almost anything for one (within comonsence of reasoning 9 times out of 10 of course)

i brought a new starter motor for it today - $170!!! (thats the cheapest in town i might ad...)

its one of them reduction ones - cranking her over tonight and observing her live again :D
