Hey all

Just quick silly question i believe my BEM might be buggered in the EF monty , i was wanting to know can i use a GLI / a lower spec BEM in the car ?

Have seen them for sale for cheap the lower spec BEM's and i am thinking of getting one as a spare in emergency situations

I dont mind if some features dont work in the Fairmont with a lower spec BEM but what would not work ?

Also can a BA/BF or AU smart shield remote work with the EF i know stupid

You need a Fairmont BCM.

AU on remotes (Smartshield) won't work with smartlock, EF.

Agreed,
The Fairmont BCM is the only on that will even plug into your car, the lower spec ones have totally different connections.

Have you read the TECH DOC on the BCMs?
All the info you need is in here.
