Hi all,

Must say im very impressed with BP Ultimate, even though yesterday i payed $1.20 per litre. The car runs much better with this fuel, and my economy is much better.

My car is going in for a service on saturday, just wondering if there is anything i can have done to get the most out of the higher octane fuels?

Ive read about people changing the timing etc... Just want to know what works and what doesnt, so i can ask my mechanic about doing it...

My cars a 90 model, EA MPFI S-Pac...

yeah u can get the timing advanced im not sure how many degrees but your mecanic would have a fair idea i guess. with the advanced timing u gotta run it on premium all the time otherwise the engine will ping like a mother fuker

Yep love Ultimate, don't love the price though. I payed $1.27, got $35 worth, thrashed the car round and got 150km out of it!!! LOL.

WOW... off 27 litres of fuel, you got 150k's? THats shocking.

I live out of town, and give the car a good thrashing regularly, and regardless of how much i drive it, i still get a MINIMUM of 500k's per tank...

I find BP Ultimate makes the idle a lot smoother on my EL, but I have found that overall Shell Optimax gives a lot more overtaking power than Ultimate. But then my Idle seems to run rough on Optimax. Weird can anyone explain this :?:

Optimax and ultimate are very different fuels from what i understand. Ultimate is premium unleaded with higher octane and lots of detergents etc. Optimax is brewed from the ground up, as opposed to tweaking their regular.

yeah, i've heard BP ultimate was good a little while ago and i just keep hearing more and more about it, so next tank of fuel i'll give it a try, ever since i got my car it's been on Mobil PULP only, only used Mobil ULP once or twice, then figured out it needed PULP, but other then that, it's life with me has been Mobil SYN 8000.

Does anyone know if EFs (which have the timing controlled by the computer) would automatically adjust for premium ?
