been bugging me for a while..... does anyone know why ford in thier infinite wisdom chucked a 25A(?) circuit breaker between alternator and battery??

maybe if the alt f**k up? although 25amps is a fair bit

makes me wonder why bother having a 60A alternator if the most current you can pull through the wiring to it is 25A

Most don't have anything between the alternator and battery, well except for the fusable link which is normally rated to around 100amps. If you are talking about the fuse in the fuse box, that isn't the charging fuse, it is just an overload fuse for current being drawn directly from the alternator instead of the battery.

Don't know why its there then, as I said every car I have seen just runs a fusable link wire between them. As you said, it defeats the purpose of having a 60amp alternator. I am also suprised you don't keep tripping it as I am sure it would output more than 25amps fairly occasionally. |

one of these days i'll chuck a fuse in place of the circuit breaker and see how long it takes to blow
