i have some ecu's i spill a sugar type drink on . . . . . .....
unfortunately one sucked up more than it's fair share.... what's the best way ta err "wash" the ecu ?? i have me hahaha flame proofs on

Wd40 and a air gun open it up if you can put some wd40 on a cotton bud and spend some time cleaning it then use a air gun to dry it thoroughly. Worked on my pc's motherboard with coffee.

Hi,
Water and some dish-washing liquid. Brush it and rinse clean then dry quickly. The back shelf of a car is good for drying things. ( parked on a sunny day )

I used an air gun because because it left a little residue behind which the air gun removed. Besides he asked a question I gave my answer he doesnt have to do it but that how I do mine.

Take the side plate off and rinse the cct board with metho. A small brush might help too.
Leave out in some warmth - sunlight should be okay but just for half an hour or so. Technically you should be wearing an anti static wristband, but the board should be sprayed with a conformal coating, so you should be okay.

Won't harm the coating, might leave a little residue - the stuff that wasn't cleaned off properly.The best stuff to use is Isopropyl Alcohol - overkill for this though - costs $$$, and these ECU's aren't exactly cutting technology and any great worth nowadays
