the indicator for the cruise control lights up, but cannot set the speed, even though the car is travelling over 40 km/h.

Maybe a broken button? Mine were dodgy for a while - I had to push a few times for it to work but it has come good now.

Well Cameron, All I can suggest is to have a read of http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=11 if you haven't already, particular the diagnostics section. Sounds like a disengage situation - Since you already mention the brake pedal switch is okay, check the pressure switch on the front of the master cylinder - pull the plug and make sure you have continuity between the two pins when brakes are off. Also make sure the jumpered plug mentioned in the doco (for autos) is indeed jumpered and the connector plug isn't loose - the plug will be amongst the wiring between the brake pedal switch and behind the fusebox. You should be able to pull it down - the wires are green/red and green/white. This is the stuff I'd check first . . . . .

The care is fine now. It was a simple problem - the wires that go into the cruise control module were not making proper contact and were repaired. BTW, how did you go with the antenna I sent you?

Yep, fixed the binding by carefully hammering a kinked section out - raises and lowers without a hassle.
