Worked out that my girlfriends eb starts first go when cold but once its warmed up have to crank it over a bit to before it starts rich fuel smell and smoke out back any ideas?
Iv cheacked to make sure that all teminals are clean and plugs are tight on at sensors

I would be saying coolant temp sensor for that one. Mixture is good when cold but cold mixture not so good when hot. I had a similar problem with mine a couple of years ago mine was running on cold mixture all the time and was going through bucket load of fuel {200ks to a full tank....} The idle was realy rough when hot as well with mine. It cost me about 40dollars from ford. You can test the sensor using the greggories manual. It tells you how to test all the sensors.

All you guys are forgetting the MAJOR CAUSE of poor fuel economy and that is correct THERMOSTAT OPERATION fi the ACTUAL engine temperature is too low the temp sensors tell the ECU to run RICH as in warm up mode the FIRST thing to check is the actual engine temperature (with a remote guage NOT the one in the vehicle) Hope this helps 8-) :D

Hi guys iv changed to cooling sensor and new thermarstat but didnt fix the problem of starting when up to running temp.Any more ideas?
