thats basically it... Just a place where all to and from signals converge and go through many components in between... Thats good these will work more widely...

Got jaysway's TFI's today...
Who'd have though they physically vary so much... So the one I made mine out of was a Bosch unit... Took a little modifying to get enough terminal to be able to solder the wires to... Old man got me 4 and jaysway got me 1 genuine motorcraft units... These are the worst units... The terminals that go into the plastic are these tiny flimsy things and are so close together there is a risk of something shorting out with a cable soldered to them... And jaysway sent me one aftermarket unit... This is the best by far... therminals are nicely spaced and all very large... These aftermarket units are by far better than the genuine units for the application I'm chasing... So as such I'll try to source some new aftermarket units because these will give the most reliable result I feel... Don't worry jaysway I do have a way of keeping that promise I made to you... So I just wait to hear back from some companies now in regards to just buying the actual housing with no circuitry... This may work out much cheaper yet and they are brand new, clean, sexy looking units... With keep this thread updated with the findings... Cheers, Tim

Also for the sake of the progress of things...
I have 8 boards etched and run out of PCB... But only 5 of you guys on the list so I have plenty for that... Just waiting on some cable and a bit more time to finish cleaning up these TFI modules and start looms... Then I'll wait on test plugs... And then I'll start asking for some money... Cos there will be a few hundred bucks in components and I don't have that cash spare so I'll do that and spend a couple of days making them up and send them out... Also gotta do the instruction prompt card too... But that wont take long... Cheers, Tim

No worries...
Thanks for the feedback guys...  Not having much luck getting a reply about the aftermarket TFI frames... So I may end up trying to clean the ford ones...That gel is a nightmare to try and get rid of... Nothing I've tried will dissolve it... Even some cleaners that are supposed to be diluted before use... Still no luck... I might try the pressure washer and blow it out... Get some cable then and start making some looms up...

Get some cable then and start making some looms up... im not sure what will take the heat sink paste off,but i think it may be the same as the one they use on computer cpus to transfer the heat,try some computer geeks,and see what they use.hope it helps you.

Na the paste is no worries... I think I may be disposing of the aluminium plates any way and leaving the surface of the epoxy there instead...
Its the gel inside the unit that is deigned to keep water out of the film module and its electronics... Cheers, Tim

Re-designed the way the wires run into the TFI's and it'll look a million bucks over the prototype...
And this bloody gel...  Nothing removes the s**t... I managed to clean on out completely... Carby cleaner, petrol, turps, metho, prepsol... nothing eats it... even high pressure water or air doesn't really dislodge it... The old man has one of those "grease eater" thingos at work so he is gonna try that for me tomorrow... If that doesn't work then its tediously sit there with a screw driver / fingers and get it out little by little... Why doesn't this s**t ever happen easy...  Cheers, Tim

Not as yet...
Once I clean up a couple of plugs and assemble it I'll add a pic then... They are soaking in some cleaner tonight and I'll have a fiddle tomorrow after work and see what I can't come up with... I think there maybe be just enough room for all the wires inside the unit without being able to see any form the outside... Will all be inside the epoxy... Should look the part anyway... Yeah that bloody gel... I'll get there eventually...Hey Torana Guy, you haven't rounded up all your TFi's yet have you? Cheers, Tim

I found 2 that i can part with, and i know somewhere i have a couple more dizzies to strip of the TFI's, just have to find them, finding the car parts I need at the right time is a bit hard around here atm...
